At least the upper five feet of backfill <br />should contain sufficient fines so as to minimize infiltration of surface <br />water into the backfill. We suggest that the filter material meet the re- <br />quirements of Class 2 Permeable Material as defined in Section 68 of the <br />State of California, Department of Public Works, Division of Highways, <br />Standard Specifications, dated January, 1969.
