EXPEDITED PERIVTIT PROCESS FOR SMALL-SCEIE PV SYSTEMS
STANDARD STRING SYSTEM
The informarion in this guideline is inrended to help local jurisdictions and contractors identify when PV system installations
are simpJe, needing only a basic review and when an installation is more complex. lt is likely that 5O%-75% of all residential
sysrems will comply with these simple criteria. For projects thal fail to meet the simple criteria, resoludon steps have been
suggested to provide as a path to permit approval.
Reguireil Information for Permit:
1. Site plan showing location of major components on the property. This drawing need not be exactly to scale, but it
should represent relarive ]ocation of components at site (see supplied example site plan). PV arrays on dwellings
with a 3'perimeter space at ridge and sides may not need separate hre service review.
2. Electrical diagram showing PV array connguration, wiring sysrem. overcurrent protecrion. Inverter, disconnects,
required signs, and ac connection to building (see supplied snndard electrical diagram).
j. Specification sheers and installarion manuals (if available) for all manufaclured componenrs including, but not
Iimited to, PV modules, inverLer(s), combiner box. disconnects, and mounting sysrem.
Step 1 : Structural Review of PV Array Mounting System
Is the array to be mounted on a defined, permitted roof structure?ves E tlo
IJ No due to non-compliant roo.f or a ground mount, submit completed worhsheet -for the structure wKSl
Roo.f Infonnation:
COIVP SHINGLEL Is the roofing type Iightweight (Yes = composition, lightweight masonry, metal, etc ..)
IJ No, submit completed wotksheet for rooJ structure wKSl (No = hea.vy masonry, slate, etc. .)
2.
