EXPEDITED PERMIT PROCESS FoR SMALL-SCALE PV SYSTEMS <br />STANDARD STRINC SYSTEM <br />The information in this guideline is inlended ro help local jurisdicrions and conrractors identify when pv sysrem insmllations <br />are simple, needing only a basic review. and when an inshllation is more complex. Ir is likely thar 50 % -75 % of all residential <br />systems will comply with these simple criteria. For projecrs that fail ro meer the simple crireria, resolution steps have been <br />suggesled to provide as a parh ro permit approval. <br />Required. Infonnation for Pemit: <br />l. Sire plan showing location ol malor components on rhe properry. Thjs drawing need not be exacrly ro scale, but ir <br />should represent relative locarion of componenrs ar sire (see supplied example sire plan). pV arrays on dwellings <br />with a 3'perimeter space at ridge and sides may nor need separate frre service review <br />2 Electrical diagram showing PV array conhguration, wiring system, overcurrent prorection, invertet disconnecrs, <br />required signs, and ac connecrion to building (see supplied standard electrical diagram) <br />3 Specification shee6 and installation manuals (if available) lor all manufactured components including. but nor <br />limited to, PV modules, inverter(s), combiner box, disconnects. and mounring system. <br />Step 1 : Structural Review o[ PV Array Mounting System <br />Is the aray to be mounted on a defrned, permined mof structure? PV modules, utility-interactive inverrers, and combiner boxes are identifred for use in pV systems. <br />2 The PV array is composed of 4 series srrings or less per inverter <br />3 The total inverter capacity has a conrinuous ac power output I3,440 Wafts or less <br />4. The ac interconnecrion point is on the load side of service disconnecting means (690.64(8)). <br />5 One of the standard electrical diagrams (E1.I, E1 la,El.lb,orELlc)canbeusedtoaccurarelyrepresentrhepV <br />system. Inreractive PDF diagrams are available at wwwsolarabcs.org/permitting. <br />Fill out the standard electrical diagrqm completely. A guide to the eLecttcat diagram is provided to help the qpplicant <br />understand eq.ch blank to ill in. I.f the etectricdt system is more complex than the standard electical dtogram can efJecttvety <br />communicate, provide an alternative diogram with qppropriate detail. <br />2 IXPEDITED PERMIT PROCESS FOR PV SYSTEMS
