<br />Energy Efficiency Standards
<br />• Existing plumbing vents, skylights, exhaust outlets, ventilations intake air openings shall not be covered by the solar
<br />photovoltaic system.
<br />• All outdoor equipment shall be NEMA 3R rated, including all roof mounted transition boxes and switches.
<br />• All equipment shall be properly grounded and bonded In accordance with CEC article 250.
<br />• All circuits connected to more than one source shall have over current devices located so as to provide over current
<br />protection from all sources. [CEC 690.9(A)]
<br />• The utility-interactive Inverters shall automatically de-energize Its output to the connected electrical production and
<br />distribution network upon loss of voltage in the system and shall remain in that state until the electrical production and
<br />distribution network voltage has been restored.[CEC 690.61]
<br />• Single conductor cable Type USE-2 and single conductor listed and identified as PV wire shall be permitted in exposed
<br />outdoor locations in PV source circuits within the PV array. PV wire shall be installed in accordance with 338.10(B)(4)(b) and
<br />334.30. [CEC 690.31 (C)(1)]
<br />• The module conductors must be type USE-2 or listed for photovoltaic (PV) wire. [CEC 690.31(B)(1)]
<br />• PV system circuit conductors shall be identified at all accessible points of termination, connection, and splices . [CEC
<br />690.31 (B(1)]
<br />• All grounded conductor shall be property color identified as white. [CEC 200.6]
<br />• PV system connected on the load side of the service disconnecting means of the other source(s) at any distribution
<br />equipment on the premises shall meet the following [CEC 705.12(B)]
<br />- Each source connection shall be made at a dedicated circuit breaker or fusible disconnecting means. [CEC 705.12(B)(1)]
<br />- The sum of the ampere rating of the over current devices in circuits supplying power to the bus bar or conductor shall
<br />not exceed 120% of the rating of bus bar or conductor. (CEC 705.12(B)(2)(3)(b)
<br />- The interconnection point shall be on the line side of all ground-fault protection equipment. [CEC 705.32]
<br />- Equipment containing over current devices In circuits supplying power to a bus bar or conductor supplied from multiple
<br />sources shall be marked to Indicate the presence of all sources. [CEC 705.12(B)(3)]
<br />- Circuit breaker, if back fed, shall be suitable for such operation. [CEC 705.12(B)(4)]
<br />• To minimize overheating of the bus bar In panel board, the panel board main circuit breaker and the PV power source
<br />circuit breaker shall be physically located at the opposite end of the bus bar.[CEC 705.12(B)(2)(3)(b)]
<br />• Marking and Labeling Methods and Locations. The labels or markings shall be visible after installation. The labels shall be
<br />reflective, and all letters shall be capitalized and shall be a minimum height of 9.5 mm (31 In.) in white on a red background.

<br />• Flexible, fine stranded cables shall be terminated only with terminals, lugs, devices or connector that are Identified and
<br />listed for such use. [CEC 690.31(H)]
<br />• Connectors shall be of latching or locking type. Connectors that are readily accessible and operating at over 30 volts shall
<br />require tool to open and marked "Do Not Disconnect Under Load' or 'Not For Current Interrupting". [CEC 690.33(C) & (E)(2)]
<br />• Equipment grounding conductor for PV modules smaller than 6AWG shall be protected from physical damage by a
<br />raceway or cable armor. [CEC 690.45 & 250.120(C))
<br />• Equipment grounding conductor for PV systems without Ground Fault Protection (GFP) and installed on non-dwelling
<br />unit must have ampacity of at least 2 times the temperature and conduit fill corrected circuit conductor ampacity, [CEC
<br />690.45(B)]
<br />• Fine-stranded cables used for battery terminals, devices, and connections requirelugs and terminals listed and marked
<br />for the use. [CEC 690.74 (A)]
<br />• A directory is not required where all inverters and PV disconnecting means are grouped at the main service
<br />disconnecting means, since the disconnects would all be located In close proximity to each other. CEC 690.4(D)
<br />• Fuses and Fixed-Trip Circuit Breakers. The standard ampere ratings for fuses and Inverse time circuit breakers shall be
<br />considered 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 60, 70, BO, 90, 100, 110, 125, 150, 175, 200, 225, 250, 300, 350, 400, 450, 500, 600,
<br />700,100, 1030, 1200, 1600, 2000, 2500, 3000,4000, 5030, and 6000 amperes. 690.9(A)
<br />• Protection devices for PV source circuits and PV output circuits shall be in accordance with the requirements of 690.9(C)
<br />• Where single overcurrent protection devices are used to protect PV source or output circuits, all overcurrent devices
<br />shall. be placed In the same polarity for all circuits within a PV system. The overcurrent devices shall be accessible but shall not
<br />be required to be readily accessible. 690.9 (C)
<br />•Equipment that performs the rapid shut down shall be listed and identified CEC.690.12 The rapid shutdown initiation
<br />methods shall be labeled in accordance with 690.56(B)
<br />•PV source circuits and PV output circuits shall not be contained in the same raceway. cable tray. cable. outlet box. junction
<br />box, or similar fitting as conductors, feeders, branch circuits of other non-PV systems, or Inverter output circuits, unless the
<br />conductors of the different systems are separated by a partition. CEC 690.31(B)
<br />• Where PV system dc circuits run inside a building, they shall be contained in metal raceways.[CEC 690.31 (G)]
