6 Electrical ConnectionSMA Solar Technology AG <br />Installation Manual SBxx-1SP-US-41-IA-xx-12 31 <br />Position Designation <br />M Network ports A and B for connecting a router or network switch <br />N USB port for connecting a USB flash drive (for service purposes) <br />O MFR slot for connection to the multifunction relay <br />P Pin connector BAT is not used <br />Q Equipment grounding terminals for the equipment grounding conductors <br />of the PV array <br />R Communication assembly <br />S Jack DISPLAY for the LED assembly connection in the enclosure lid of the <br />Connection Unit <br />6.2 AC Connection <br />6.2.1 Requirements for the AC Connection <br />Additionally required material (not included in the scope of delivery): <br />☐ Conduits (trade size: 21 mm (0.75 in) or smaller with suitable reducer bushing) <br />☐ UL-listed raintight or liquidtight conduit fittings (trade size: 21 mm (0.75 in) or smaller with <br />suitable reducer bushing) <br />Requirements on the AC conductors: <br />☐ The maximum permitted temperature of the terminal block for AC connection of 105°C <br />(221°F) must be observed. <br />☐ The conductors with regards to its ampacity, rated temperatures, operating conditions and its <br />power loss must be made in accordance with the local standards and the National Electrical <br />Code ® ANSI/NFPA 70 or the Canadian Electrical Code® CSA C22.1. <br />☐ Conductor type: copper wire <br />☐ Maximum permissible temperature at SB3.0-1SP-US-41, SB3.8-1SP-US-41, SB5.0-1SP-US-41 <br />and SB6.0-1SP-US-41: 75°C (+167°F) <br />☐ The conductors must be made of solid wire, stranded wire or fine stranded wire. When using <br />fine stranded wire, bootlace ferrules must be used. <br />☐ Conductor cross-section: 4 mm² to 16 mm² (12 AWG to 6 AWG) <br />Load-break switch an cable protection: <br />☐ Each inverter must be protected with its own overcurrent protective device.
