6 Electrical Connection SMA Solar Technology AG <br />Installation ManualSBxx-1SP-US-41-IA-xx-12 48 <br />Additionally required material (not included in the scope of delivery): <br />☐ Conduits (trade size: 21 mm (0.75 in) or smaller with suitable reducer bushing) <br />☐ UL-listed raintight or liquidtight conduit fittings (trade size: 21 mm (0.75 in) or smaller with <br />suitable reducer bushing) <br />Requirements on the DC conductors: <br />☐ The conductors with regards to its ampacity, rated temperatures, operating conditions and its <br />power loss must be made in accordance with the local standards and the National Electrical <br />Code ® ANSI/NFPA 70 or the Canadian Electrical Code® CSA C22.1. <br />☐ The DC terminal block temperature rating is +90°C (+194°F). <br />☐ Conductor type: copper wire <br />☐ Maximum permissible temperature: 75°C (+167°F) or 90°C (194°F) <br />☐ The conductors must be made of solid wire, stranded wire or fine stranded wire. When using <br />fine stranded wire, bootlace ferrules must be used. <br />☐ Conductor cross-section: 2.5 mm² to 10 mm² (14 AWG to 8 AWG) <br />6.6.2 Connecting the PV Array <br />NOTICE <br />Damage to the inverter due to ground fault on DC side during operation <br />Due to the transformerless topology of the product, the occurance of ground faults on DC side <br />during operation can lead to irreparable damage. Damages to the product due to a faulty or <br />damaged DC installation are not covered by warranty. The product is equipped with a protective <br />device that checks whether a ground fault is present during the starting sequence. The product is <br />not protected during operation. <br />• Ensure that the DC installation is carried out correctly and no ground fault occurs during <br />operation. <br />Requirements: <br />☐ The grounding of the PV system must be executed as per the specifications of the National <br />Electrical Code ® ANSI/NFPA 70 and is the responsibility of the installer. <br />☐ All electrical installations must be carried out in accordance with the local standards and the <br />National Electrical Code ® ANSI/NFPA 70 or the Canadian Electrical Code® CSA C22.1. <br />EN <br />G <br />L <br />I <br />S <br />H <br />534 S Sycamore St <br />- 10110979707/01/22
