This letEer addressed problems <br />you are experiencinS regarding the City's enforcement of the Seismic Safety <br />0rdinance at 511-515 South Main SEreet. <br />For the sake of simplicity I vould like lo respond point by point to the major <br />questions and/or statements contained within your 1elter: <br />"It seems Eo me that rhe City is trying to force ne to move my business to <br />anothqr ciEy. rr <br />\, <br />This coild not be further fron the Eruth. Rather the City is comritted to <br />the task of reducing life hazardous building condi li.ons--sPeci fical l y in <br />this case those buildings constructed of unreinforced masonry. This is <br />extremely important when considering the intensity of your use and the <br />potential for loss of life should an earthquake of moderate Eo high in- <br />tensity occur. <br />ttAre there any ot.her businesses that are goin8 to be forced out?" <br />The application of the Seismic SafeEy Ordinance including the time limita- <br />tion is equally and consistently apptied to all Class III buildings vi.thin <br />the City (a total of over 100 buildings). VacaEion of a buildin8 is only <br />one option of compliance.
