Analyses are attached.
We are not recommending steel pipe pile, since steel pipe piles are subject to corrosion.
As swamp, peats and other organic soils are corrosive. To offset the eflect of corrosion,
an additional thickness of steel over the actual design cross-sectional area is generally
recommended. In many cases, factory-applied epoxy coating on pile may work
satisfactorily against corrosion. Concrete encasement ofsteel piles in corrosive zones also. '
protect against corrosion. In any case we are not practicing corrosion engineering, but we
noted that the soils and water underlying the project site are corrosive. If steel piles are
used, a corrosion engineer should be consulted.
Geotechnical Solutions, Inc.
Dharma Shakya, PhD, PE, GE
Principal Geotechnical Engineer
,)
A braham S.
