Summary and Conclusions <br /> <br />Column repair calculations are completed using LRFD per ASCE 7-16 and compliant <br />with Concrete Code and Steel Code specifications. The vertical concrete and masonry <br />columns are cracking due to lack if confinement steel. This is likely due to lack of hoop <br />steel, or none. The repair plan provides two mitigations: <br />1. Steel plates wrapped around the existing affected columns with epoxy injection at <br />cracks. The plates serve as confinement steel to add circumferential <br />reinforcement and prevent the column from bursting due to the compression load. <br />2. New HSS columns per plan. As an added security measure, the HSS column will <br />provide support to the beams in the event the damaged columns fail. This serves <br />as another level of insurance in the event of column failure, the new posts will <br />prevent the slab from failing in this one location. <br /> <br />Page 21 of 21 <br />HOLD- 408 E Civic Center Dr <br />- 1021192849/24/2024
