The following calculations are example calculation to explain each step of calculations <br />performed but not shown in the Retrofit Shear Wall Check Spreadsheet. It uses the <br />row with shear wall on GL 1.5 (new drawing GL). <br />Shear Wall Loads and Checks <br />The demands on each shear wall were allocated based on the tributary load which was <br />determined by taking the tributary area of each shear wall line and distributing the <br />entire building base shear proportionally. Shear wall lines with multiple shear walls <br />with the same sheathing were assumed to distribute shear to each wall proportional to <br />their length.
