<br />11B-602 Drinking Fountains
<br />11B-602.1 General
<br />Drinking fountains shall comply with Sections 11B-307 and 11B-602.
<br />11B-602.2 Clear floor space
<br />Units shall have a clear floor or ground space complying with Section
<br />11B-305 positioned for a forward approach and centered on the unit. Knee and toe clearance
<br />complying with Section 11B-306 shall be provided. EXCEPTION: A parallel approach complying
<br />with Section 11B-305 shall be permitted at units for children's use where the spout is 30 inches
<br />maximum above the finish floor or ground and is 3-1/2 inches maximum from the front edge of the
<br />unit, including bumpers.
<br />11B-602.3 Operable parts
<br />Operable parts shall comply with Section 11B-309. The flow of water shall be
<br />activated by a manually operated system that is front mounted or side mounted and located within 6
<br />inches of the front edge of the fountain or an automatic electronically controlled device.
<br />11B-602.4 Spout height
<br />Spout outlets shall be 36 inches maximum above the finish floor or ground.
<br />11B-602.5 Spout location
<br />The spout shall be located 15 inches minimum from the vertical support and 5
<br />inches maximum from the front edge of the unit, including bumpers.
<br />11B-602.6 Water flow
<br />The spout shall provide a flow of water 4 inches high minimum and shall be
<br />located 5 inches maximum from the front of the unit. The angle of the water stream shall be
<br />measured horizontally relative to the front face of the unit. Where spouts are located less than 3
<br />inches of the front of the unit, the angle of the water stream shall be 30 degrees maximum. Where
<br />spouts are located between 3 inches and 5 inches maximum from the front of the unit, the angle of
<br />the water stream shall be 15 degrees maximum.
<br />11B-602.7 Drinking fountains for standing persons
<br />Spout outlets of drinking fountains for standing persons shall be 38 inches
<br />minimum and 43 inches maximum above the finish floor or ground.
<br />11B-602.8 Depth
<br />Wall and post-mounted cantilevered drinking fountains shall be 18 inches
<br />minimum and 19 inches maximum in depth.
<br />11B-602.9 Pedestrian protection
<br />All drinking fountains shall either be located completely within alcoves,
<br />positioned completely between wing walls, or otherwise positioned so as not to encroach into
<br />pedestrian ways. The protected area within which a drinking fountain is located shall be 32 inches
<br />wide minimum and 18 inches deep minimum, and shall comply with Section 11B-305.7. When used,
<br />wing walls or barriers shall project horizontally at least as far as the drinking fountain and to within 6
<br />inches vertically from the floor or ground surface.
<br />11B-604 Water closets and toilet compartments
<br />11B-604.1 General
<br />Water closets and toilet compartments shall comply with Sections 11B-604.2
<br />through 11b-604.8 EXCEPTION: Water closets and toilet compartments for children's use shall be
<br />permitted to comply with Section 11B-604.9.
<br />11B-604.2 Location
<br />The water closet shall be positioned with a wall or partition to the rear and one
<br />side. The center-line of the water closet shall be 17 inches minimum to 18 inches maximum from the
<br />side wall or partition, except that the water closet shall be 17 inches minimum and 19 inches
<br />maximum from the side wall or partition in the ambulatory accessible toilet compartment specified in
<br />Section 11B-604.8.2. Water closets shall be arranged for a left-hand or right-hand approach.
<br />11B-604.4 Seats
<br />The seat height of a water closet above the finish floor shall be 17 inches
<br />minimum and 19 inches maximum measured to the top of the seat. Seats shall not be sprung to
<br />return to a lifted position. Seats shall be 2 inches high maximum. EXCEPTIONS: 1. Reserved. 2.
<br />In residential dwelling units, the height of the water closets shall be permitted to be 15 inches
<br />minimum and 19 inches maximum above the finish floor measured to the top of the seat. 3. A 3-inch
<br />high seat shall be permitted only in alterations where the existing fixture is less than 15 inches high.
<br />11B-604.6 Flush controls
<br />Flush controls shall be hand operated or automatic. Hand operated flush
<br />controls shall comply with Section 11B-309 except they shall be located 44 inches maximum above
<br />the floor. Flush controls shall be located on the open side of the water closet except in ambulatory
<br />accessible compartments complying with Section 11B-604.8.2.
<br />11B-604.8.2 Ambulatory accessible compartments
<br />Ambulatory accessible compartments shall comply with Section 11B-604.8.2.
<br />11B-604.8.2.1 Size
<br />Ambulatory accessible compartments shall have a depth of 60 inches
<br />minimum and a width of 35 inches minimum and 37 inches maximum.
<br />11B-604.9 Water closets and toilet compartments for children's use
<br />Water closets and toilet compartments for children's use shall comply with
<br />Section 11B-604.9. When the exception in Section 11B-604.1 is used, the suggested dimensions of
<br />Table 11B-604.9 for a single age group shall be applied consistently to the installation of a water
<br />closet and all associated components.
<br />11B-604-9-1 The water closet shall be located with a wall or partition to the rear and to one
<br />side. The centerline of the water closet shall be 12 inches minimum and 18 inches maximum from
<br />the side wall or partition, except that the water closet shall be 17 inches minimum and 19 inches
<br />maximum from the side wall or partition in the ambulatory accessible toilet compartment specified in
<br />Section 11B-604-8.2. Compartments shall be arranged for left-hand or right-hand approach to the
<br />water closet.
<br />11B-604.9.3 Height
<br />The height of water closets shall be 11 inches minimum and 17 inches
<br />maximum measured to the top of the seat. Seats shall not be sprung to return to a lifted position.
<br />11B-604-9.5 Flush controls
<br />Flush controls shall be hand operated or automatic. Hand operated flush
<br />controls shall comply with Sections 11B-309.2 and 11B-309.4 and shall be installed 36 inches
<br />maximum above the finish floor. Flush controls shall be located on the open side of the water closet
<br />except in ambulatory accessible compartments complying with Section 11B-604.8.2.
<br />11B-605 Urinals
<br />11B-605.1 General
<br />Toilet Compartments shall comply with Section 11B-605.
<br />11B-605.2 Height and depth
<br />Urinals shall be the stall-type or the wall-hung type with the rim 17 inches
<br />maximum above the finish floor or ground. Urinals shall be 13-1/2 inches deep minimum from the
<br />outer face of the urinal rim to the back of the fixture.
<br />11B-605.3 Clear floor space
<br />A clear floor or ground space complying with Section 11B-305 positioned for
<br />forward approach shall be provided.
<br />11B-605.4 Flush controls
<br />Flush controls shall be hand operated or automatic. Hand operated flush
<br />controls shall comply with Section 11B-309 except that the flush control shall be mounted at a
<br />maximum height of 44 inches above the finish floor.
<br />11B-606 Lavatories and sinks
<br />11B-606.1 General
<br />Lavatories and sinks shall comply with Section 11B-606.
<br />11B-606.2 Clear floor space
<br />A clear floor space complying with Section 11B-305, positioned for a forward
<br />approach, and knee and toe clearance complying with Section 11B-306 shall be provided.
<br />EXCEPTIONS: 1. A parallel approach complying with Section 11B-305 shall be permitted to a a
<br />kitchen sink in a space where a cook top or conventional range is not provided and to wet bars. 2.
<br />Reserved. 3. In residential dwelling units, cabinetry shall be permitted under lavatories and kitchen
<br />sinks provided that all of the following conditions are met: (a)the cabinetry can be removed without
<br />removal or replacement of fixture; (b) the finish floor extends under the cabinetry; and (c) the walls
<br />behind and surrounding the cabinetry are finished. 4. A knee clearance of 24 inches minimum
<br />above the finish floor or ground shall be permitted at lavatories and sinks used primarily by children 6
<br />through 12 years where the rim or counter surface is 31 inches maximum above the finish floor or
<br />ground. 5. A parallel approach complying with Section 11B-305 shall be permitted to lavatories and
<br />sinks used primarily by children 5 years and younger. 6. The dip of the overflow shall not be
<br />considered in determining knee and toe clearances. 7. No more than one bowl of a multi-bowl sink
<br />shall be required to provide knee and toe clearance complying with Section 11B-306.
<br />11B-606.3 Height
<br />Lavatories and sinks shall be installed with the front of the higher of the rim or
<br />counter surface 34 inches maximum above the finish floor or ground. EXCEPTION: 1. Reserved.
<br />2. In residential dwelling unit kitchens, sinks that are adjustable to variable heights, 29 inches
<br />minimum and 36 inches maximum, shall be permitted where rough-in plumbing permits connections
<br />of supply and drain pipes for sinks mounted at the height of 29 inches.
<br />11B-606.4 Faucets
<br />Controls for faucets shall comply with Section 11B-309. Hand operated
<br />metering faucets shall remain open for 10 seconds minimum.
<br />11B-606.5 Exposed pipes and surfaces
<br />Water supply and drain pipes under lavatories and sinks shall be insulated or
<br />otherwise configured to protect against contact. There shall be no sharp or abrasive surfaces under
<br />lavatories and sinks.
<br />11B-608 Shower compartments
<br />11B-608.5 Controls
<br />Controls, faucets, and shower spray units shall comply with Section
<br />11B-309.4. Controls and faucets shall be of a single-lever design.
<br />11B-608.5.2 Standard roll-in type compartments
<br />In standard roll-in type compartments, operable parts of controls and faucets
<br />shall be installed on the back wall of the compartment adjacent to the seat wall 19 inches minimum
<br />and 27 inches maximum from the seat wall; and shall be located above the grab bar, but no higher
<br />than 48 inches above the shower floor, with their centerline at 39 inches to 41 inches above the
<br />shower floor. Operable parts of the shower spray unit, including the handle, shall be installed on the
<br />back wall adjacent to the seat wall 19 inches minimum and 27 inches maximum from the seat wall;
<br />and shall be located above the grab bar, but no higher than 48 inches above the shower floor.
<br />11B-608.5.3 In alternate roll-in type shower compartments, operable parts of controls and
<br />faucets shall be installed on the side of the compartment adjacent to the seat wall 19 inches
<br />minimum and 27 inches maximum from the seat wall; and shall be located above the grab bar, but no
<br />higher than 48 inches above the shower floor, with their centerline at 39 inches to 41 inches above
<br />the shower floor. Operable parts of the shower spray unit, including the handle, shall be installed on
<br />the side wall of the compartment adjacent to the seat wall 17 inches minimum and 19 inches
<br />maximum from the seat wall or on the back wall opposite the seat 15 inches maximum, let or right, of
<br />the centerline of the seat; and shall be located above the grab bar, but no higher than 48 inches
<br />above the shower floor.
<br />11B-608.6 Shower spray unit and water
<br />A shower spray unit with a hose 59 inches long minimum that can be used
<br />both as a fixed-position shower head and as a hand-held shower shall be provided. The shower
<br />spray unit shall have an on/off control with a non-positive shut-off. If an adjustable-height shower
<br />head on a vertical bar is used, the bar shall be installed so as not to obstruct the use of grab bars.
<br />Shower spray units deliver water that is 120 degrees F maximum.

<br />ADA ACCESS REGULATIONS
<br />PLUMBING CODE
<br />1.All required cleanouts shall be installed as per Sec.707.0 & 719.0 of the plumbing code.
<br />2.Each plumbing vent shall terminate not less than (10) feet from or at least (3) feet above any window, door, opening
<br />air intake, or vent shaft.
<br />3.Roof drains, overflow drains, and rainwater piping within the interior of the building shall be test in accordance
<br />with the provisions of the plumbing code for testing drain, waste, and vent systems.
<br />4.Roof drains, overflow drains, and rainwater piping within the interior of the building shall use approved drainage fittings.
<br />5.Roof drains, overflow drains, and rainwater piping within the interior of the building shall be sized to include vertical
<br />wall area to the tributary area.
<br />6.Roof drains, overflow drains, and rainwater piping within the interior of the building shall be IAPMO listed.
<br />7.Rainwater piping on the exterior of the building shall not be less that 26 gauge galvanized sheet metal and when the
<br />connector is connected to a building storm drain, a drain connection shall be extended above the finished grade and
<br />joined at a point protected from mechanical damage.
<br />8.Prohibit the counter flashing on vents from restricting internal cross-section area.
<br />9.Vent piping to be supported against closest building wall or column from required vertical support means.
<br />10.All hose bibbs shall have an approved non-removable vacuum breaker per section 603.5.7 of the 2022 CPC.

<br />5.303.3 Water Conserving Plumbing Fixtures and Fittings
<br />Plumbing fixtures (water closets and urinals) and fittings (faucets and showerheads) shall comply with the following:
<br />5.303.3.1 Water Closets
<br />The effective flush volume of all water closets shall not exceed 1.28 gallons per flush. Tank-type water closets shall be certified to the performance criteria of the US EPA WaterSense Specification for
<br />Tank-Type Toilets.
<br />Note: The effective flush volume of dual flush toilets is defined as the composite, average flush volume of two reduced flushes and one full flush.
<br />5.303.3.2 Urinals
<br />5.303.3.2.1 Wall-Mounted Urinals
<br />The effective flush volume of wall-mounted urinals shall not exceed 0.125 gallons per flush.
<br />5.303.3.2.2 Floor-Mounted Urinals
<br />The effective flush volume of floor-mounted or other urinals shall not exceed 0.5 gallons per flush.
<br />5.303.3.3 Showerheads
<br />5.303.3.3.1 Single Showerhead
<br />Showerheads shall have a maximum flow rate of not more than 1.8 gallons per minute at 80 psi. Showerheads shall be certified to the performance criteria of the US EPA WaterSense Specification for
<br />Showerheads.
<br />5.303.3.3.2 Multiple Showerheads Serving One Shower
<br />When a shower is served by more than one showerhead, the combined flow rate of all showerheads and/or other shower outlets controlled by a single valve shall not exceed 1.8 gallons per minute at 80 psi,
<br />or the shower shall be designed to allow only one shower outlet to be in operation at a time.
<br />Note: A hand-held shower shall be considered a showerhead.
<br />5.303.3.4 Faucets and Fountains
<br />5.303.3.4.1 Nonresidential Lavatory Faucets
<br />Lavatory faucets shall have a maximum flow rate of not more than 0.5 gallons per minute at 60 psi.
<br />5.303.3.4.2 Kitchen Faucets
<br />Kitchen faucets shall have a maximum flow rate of not more than 1.8 gallons per minute at 60 psi. Kitchen faucets may temporarily increase the flow above the maximum rate, but not to exceed 2.2 gallons
<br />per minute at 60 psi, and must default to a maximum flow rate of 1.8 gallons per minute at 60 psi.
<br />5.303.3.4.3 Wash Fountains
<br />Wash fountains shall have a maximum flow rate of not more than 1.8 gallons per minute/20 [rim space (inches) at 60 psi].
<br />5.303.3.4.4 Metering Faucets
<br />Metering faucets shall not deliver more than 0.20 gallons per cycle.
<br />5.303.3.4.5 Metering Faucets for Wash Fountains
<br />Metering faucets for wash fountains shall have a maximum flow rate of not more than 0.20 gallons per cycle/20 [rim space (inches) at 60 psi].
