The panels shall be considered combustible and may be installed only in areas where <br />combustible materials are permitted by the Code. <br /> <br />5. Complete design calculations, including the panel connections to the foundation or <br />building substrate, shall be submitted to the Structural Plan Check Section for each <br />project. Plans and calculations shall bear the stamp and signature of a licensed civil or <br />structural engineer or architect. <br /> <br />6. Refer to attached tables for allowable panel loads. No increase in allowable stress is <br />allowed for the values indicated above for short duration of loads due to wind or seismic <br />forces. <br /> <br />7. Where the aggregate enclosed area of the cooler and/or freezer exceeds 400 square feet, <br />one of the two following conditions shall be met: <br /> <br />a. A thermal barrier of shall be installed to separate the foam plastic from the <br />interior of the building per Section 2306.4 of the Los Angeles Building Code. <br /> <br />b. The cooler/freezer shall be protected by an automatic sprinkler system in <br />accordance with Section 903.3.1.1 of the Los Angeles Building Code. <br />Furthermore, where the unit is within a building, both the cooler/freezer and that <br />part of the building in which it is located shall be sprinklered. <br /> <br />8. Panels fabrication shall follow regulations and only be fabricated by a Type I licensed <br />shop that is approved by the Los Angeles Building Department. Type II fabricators are <br />required when piping or other utilities are in the walls or ceilings. Shops not licensed by <br />the Los Angeles City Building Department will invalidate this approval. <br /> <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The report is in compliance with the 2020 City of Los Angeles Building Code. <br /> <br />The approval is based on the foam plastic insulation requirements of Section 2603 and structural <br />tests and analysis. <br /> <br />Addressee to whom this Research Report is issued is responsible for providing copies of it, <br />complete with any attachments indicated, to architects, engineers and builders using items <br />approved herein in design or construction which must be approved by Department of Building <br />and Safety Engineers and Inspectors. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />2300 N Tustin Ave - <br />101117751-52 & 301467158/22/2024
