THE PROJECT IS A NEW PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEM CONSISTING OF SOLAR ARRAY(S) AND <br />ASSOCIATED POWER CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT. <br />1.2. ALL CONSTRUCTION SHALL COMPLY WITH THE ADOPTED EDITION OF THE CALIFORNIA BUILDING <br />CODE (CBC) AND CALIFORNIA ELECTRICAL CODE (2019 CEC) AS SPECIFIED IN THE PROJECT <br />SPECIFIC NOTES. IT SHALL ALSO COMPLY WITH ALL APPLICABLE CITY, COUNTY, STATE AND <br />LOCAL ELECTRICAL UTILITY CODES, RULES, AND REGULATIONS. <br />1.3. THE SYSTEM WILL BE INTERCONNECTED TO THE ELECTRICAL UTILITY GRID IN ACCORDANCE <br />WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE ADOPTED CEC AND THE ELECTRICAL UTILITY COMPANY. <br />1.4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE LABOR FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE ARRAY AND <br />INSTALLATION OF ALL ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT. THE CONTRACTOR WILL PROVIDE COMPETENT <br />SUPERVISION FOR THE WORK TO BE ACCOMPLISHED. CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT SHOP <br />DRAWINGS FOR APPROVAL BY OWNER AS REQUIRED. <br />1.5. THERE WILL BE NO SUBSTITUTION FOR ANY EQUIPMENT WITH A VENDOR PART NUMBER ON THE <br />DRAWINGS WITHOUT WRITTEN APPROVAL OF MOTIVE ENERGY ENGINEERING. COMMON ITEMS <br />SUCH AS CONDUIT, WIRE, FITTINGS, ETC. ARE NOT SPECIFIED BY VENDOR BUT THE SIZES <br />CANNOT BE REDUCED. <br />1.6. THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTOR AND HIS SUBCONTRACTORS AGREE THAT IN ACCORDANCE <br />WITH GENERALLY ACCEPTED CONSTRUCTION PRACTICES, CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTOR AND <br />HIS SUBCONTRACTORS WILL BE REQUIRED TO ASSUME SOLE AND COMPLETE RESPONSIBILITY <br />FOR SAFETY OF ALL PERSONS AND PROPERTY, AND THAT THIS REQUIREMENT SHALL BE MADE <br />TO APPLY CONTINUOUSLY AND IS NOT LIMITED TO NORMAL WORKING HOURS. <br />1.7. CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTOR AND HIS SUBCONTRACTORS FURTHER AGREE TO DEFEND, <br />INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE DESIGN PROFESSIONAL FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY, <br />REAL OR ALLEGED, IN CONNECTION WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF WORK ON THIS PROJECT, <br />EXCEPT LIABILITY ARISING FROM THE SOL NEGLIGENCE OF DESIGN PERSONNEL. <br />1.8. THE CONTRACTOR AND HIS SUBCONTRACTORS WILL BE REQUIRED TO REPAIR ANY DAMAGE <br />DONE TO BUILDINGS, GROUNDS OR UTILITIES AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO THE CUSTOMER. <br />DEFECTIVE MATERIALS OR WORKMANSHIP WILL NOT SHALL BE CONDUCTED BOTH DURING THE <br />EXECUTION OF AND AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE PROJECT. <br />2.GENERAL <br />2.1. THE ACTUAL SYSTEM EQUIPMENT SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEM ARE <br />INCLUDED IN THE PV SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS TABLE ON THE TITLE PAGE AND THROUGHOUT <br />THE DRAWINGS AS NECESSARY FOR CLARITY. IN ADDITION, THE ACTUAL VENDOR <br />SPECIFICATION DATA SHEETS WILL BE INCLUDED AS PART OF THE PERMIT SUBMITTAL. <br />2.2. ONLY NEW MATERIALS FREE OF DEFECTS WILL BE INSTALLED AS PART OF THE PROJECT. ALL <br />NEW INSTALLED EQUIPMENT SHALL HAVE PERMANENT PLASTIC OR METAL ENGRAVED <br />IDENTIFICATION TAGS INSTALLED. <br />2.3. ALL CUTTING AND PATCHING REQUIRED FOR INSTALLATION OF NEW RACEWAYS AND <br />EQUIPMENT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR. ALL WORK <br />SHALL BE PERFORMED BY TRADESMAN EXPERIENCED IN THE WORK REQUIRED. ALL FINISHES <br />SHALL MATCH THE EXISTING ADJACENT FINISHES. OPENINGS IN FIRE RATED WALLS WILL BE <br />PATCHED IN A MANNER MAINTAINING THE ORIGINAL FIRE AND SMOKE RATINGS. <br />2.4. DRAWINGS ARE DIAGRAMMATIC IN NATURE AND CANNOT SHOW EVERY CONNECTION, JUNCTION <br />BOX, WIRE, CONDUIT, ETC. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING A <br />COMPLETE AND FUNCTIONAL ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. <br />2.5. CONTRACTOR WILL COORDINATE ALL POWER OUTAGES WITH THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE <br />IN ADVANCE. <br />2.6. PANEL DESIGNATIONS SHOWN ON THESE DRAWINGS ARE GIVEN FOR CLARIFICATION OF <br />CIRCUITING ONLY AND MAY NOT CORRESPOND TO THE DESIGNATIONS FOUND IN THE FIELD. <br />3.CONDUIT AND WIRE <br />3.1. ALL CONDUCTORS SHALL BE INSTALLED IN CONDUIT, UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE ON PLANS. <br />EXCEPTION: PV SOURCE CIRCUIT CONDUCTORS MADE OF TYPE USE-2 OR PV WIRE TYPE <br />CABLES MAY BE INSTALLED IN FREE AIR BENEATH THE PV ARRAY. <br />3.2. ALL CONDUCTOR SHALL BE COPPER OR ALUMINUM AS SPECIFIED ON THE DRAWINGS, WITH 90°C <br />RATED INSULATION, UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE. <br />3.3. ALL SERVICE, FEEDER AND BRANCH CONDUCTORS SHALL BE IDENTIFIED TO MATCH THE <br />EXISTING BUILDING OR STRUCTURE IDENTIFICATION SCHEME PER CEC 200.6, 210.5 AND 215.12. <br />WHERE MORE THAN ONE NOMINAL VOLTAGE SYSTEM EXISTS IN A BUILDING OR STRUCTURE, <br />EACH UNGROUNDED CONDUCTOR SHALL BE IDENTIFIED BY PHASE AND SYSTEM. THE <br />IDENTIFICATION SCHEME SHALL BE PERMANENTLY POSTED AT EACH PANEL BOARD OR <br />SWITCHBOARD. ALL DC SYSTEM CONDUCTOR SIZES SHALL BE IDENTIFIED WITH COLORED INSULATION, TAPE, <br />TAGGING ORE OTHER APPROVED MEANS PER CEC ART. 690.31(B). <br />3.8. WHERE INSTALLED IN RACEWAY, ALL AC CIRCUIT CONDUCTORS #8 AWG AND LARGER SHALL BE <br />STRANDED. ALL AC CIRCUIT CONDUCTORS #12 AWG AND SMALL SHALL BE SOLID. <br />3.9. WHERE WIRING AND CONDUIT SIZES ARE INDICATED FOR HOMERUNS, THESE SIZES APPLY TO <br />THE ENTIRE LENGTH FROM THE PROTECTIVE DEVICE IN THE PANEL TO THE EQUIPMENT OR <br />LAST WIRING DEVICE. <br />3.10. ALL EXISTING CONDUIT RUNS SHOWN ON PLANS ARE BASED ON EXISTING AS-BUILTS AND <br /> LIMITED SITE OBSERVATIONS. CONTRACTOR SHALL FIELD VERIFY EXISTING CONDUIT SIZES, <br /> QUANTITIES, AND LOCATIONS PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF WORK. <br />3.11. INDOOR EMT FITTINGS MAY BE COMPRESSION TYPE OR STEEL SET SCREW TYPE. <br />OUTDOOR EMT FITTINGS MUST BE COMPRESSION RAINTIGHT TYPE. <br />3.12. ALL CONDUIT PENETRATIONS THROUGH ROOFS, FLOORS OR WALLS SHALL BE MADE WATER <br /> TIGHT BY PROPER FLASHING, CAULKING OR SEALING. <br />3.13. WHERE PORTIONS OF A RACEWAY ARE PASSING FROM INTERIOR TO THE EXTERIOR OF A <br /> BUILDING OR UNDER GROUND TO ABOVEGROUND, THE RACEWAY SHALL BE FILLED WITH A <br /> LISTED PRODUCT THAT IS INTENDED FOR THE APPLICATION NEAR THE TRANSITION TO PREVENT <br /> THE CIRCULATION OF AIR, MOISTURE, AND WATER PER CEC 300.7. <br /> 3.14. OPENINGS AROUND ELECTRICAL PENETRATIONS INTO OR THROUGH FIRE-RESISTANT-RATED <br />WALLS, PARTITIONS, FLOORS OR CEILINGS SHALL BE FIRE STOPPED USING APPROVED <br />METHODS TO MAINTAIN THE FIRE RESISTANCE RATING PER CEC 300.21. <br /> 3.15. ALL FIXTURES AND DEVICES SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH SUITABLE METAL OUTLET BOXES, <br />CONFORMING TO CEC ARTICLE 314. BOXES SHALL BE SUPPORTED RIGIDLY FROM THE <br />STRUCTURE. <br /> 3.16. ALL ABOVEGROUND CONDUITS LONGER THAN 3 FEET SHALL BE EMT, IMC, OR RMC. EMT SHALL <br />ONLY BE ALLOWED WHERE CONDUIT IS NOT SUBJECT TO PHYSICAL DAMAGE. <br /> 3.17. ALL CONDUITS INSTALLED IN UNDERGROUND TRENCHES SHALL BE SCHEDULE 40 PVC OR <br />SCHEDULE 80 PVC. SCHEDULE 40 PVC SHALL NOT BE INSTALLED ABOVE GRADE. THE <br />TRANSITION FROM PVC CONDUIT TO METALLIC CONDUIT SHALL OCCUR AT OR BELOW GRADE <br />LEVEL. ALL METALLIC CONDUIT AND FITTINGS INSTALLED BELOW GRADE SHALL BE WRAPPED <br />WITH LISTED, 20 MILL THICK 2" WIDE TAPE. WRAP TAPE WITH 1" OVERLAP. <br /> 3.18. HORIZONTAL DIRECTIONAL DRILLING (A.K.A. BORING) MAY BE EMPLOYED WHERE INSTALLING <br />CONDUITS IN A TRENCH IS NOT PRACTICAL. CONTRACTOR SHALL USE HIGH DENSITY <br />POLYETHYLENE (HDPE) CONDUIT AND MAINTAIN THE SAME MINIMUM CONDUIT DEPTH <br />DESCRIBED IN TRENCH DETAILS. <br /> 3.19. THE CONDUIT ROUTES SHOWN ON THE PLANS ARE APPROXIMATE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL <br />DETERMINE THE BEST CONDUIT ROUTES BASED ON THE SITE CONDITIONS. THE CONTRACTOR <br />SHALL COORDINATE WITH THE ENGINEER IF THE CONTRACTOR'S PREFERRED CONDUIT ROUTES <br />ARE OTHER THAN WHAT ARE INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS. <br /> 3.20. PER CEC ART.300.7(B) WHERE CONDUITS ARE LOCATED ON ROOFTOPS OR EXPOSED TO DIRECT <br />SUNLIGHT, EXPANSION FITTINGS MAY BE REQUIRED TO ALLOW FOR THERMAL EXPANSION. <br />PROVIDE (1) EXPANSION FITTING ON EVERY STRAIGHT SECTION OF EXPOSED STEEL CONDUIT <br />(EMT, IMC, RMC) THAT TERMINATES AT SECURELY MOUNTED FIXTURES AND EXCEEDS 35 FEET IN <br />LENGTH. INSTALL EXPANSION FITTING PER MANUFACTURER'S INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. <br /> 3.21. USE LFMC CONDUIT AT POINTS ON THE STRUCTURE SUCH AS SEISMIC SEPARATIONS WHERE <br />FLEXIBILITY IS REQUIRED. LFMC SHALL BE SUPPORTED AND SECURELY FASTENED IN INTERVALS <br />NOT EXCEEDING 4-1/2 FEET AS REQUIRED BY CEC ART. 350.30. <br />4. GROUNDING <br />4.1. THE GROUNDING SYSTEM SHALL MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CEC AND THE LOCAL <br />ADOPTED CODE. ALL ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT AND RACEWAYS SHALL BE PROPERLY <br />GROUNDED. <br />4.2. AN INSULATED EQUIPMENT GROUNDING CONDUCTOR, IN ACCORDANCE WITH CEC 250.122 AND <br />690.47, SHALL BE PROVIDED IN ALL CONDUITS WITH CURRENT CARRYING CONDUCTORS. ALL <br />LUGS AND CONNECTORS SHALL BE RATED FOR THE CONDUCTOR MATERIAL AND THE <br />CONDITIONS OF USE. <br />4.3. THE GROUNDING RESISTIVITY WILL BE TESTED AFTER INSTALLATION TO CONFIRM 5 OHM OR <br />LESS RESISTANCE FROM RACKING TO GROUND. IF GROUND RESISTANCE IS GREATER THAN 5 <br />OHMS, ADDITIONAL GROUNDING WILL BE INSTALLED UNTIL RESISTANCE IS LESS THAN 5 OHMS. <br />5. EQUIPMENT <br />5.1. ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS INSTALLED OUTDOORS, EXPOSED TO THE WEATHER OR IN <br />DAMP LOCATIONS SHALL BE RATED FOR NEMA 3R OR GREATER. INSTALLATION OF THESE <br />COMPONENTS MUST COMPLY WITH THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. <br />5.2. ALL RACEWAYS, CABINETS, BOXES, FIXTURES SHALL BE SUPPORTED FROM THE BUILDING <br />STRUCTURE IN AN APPROVED MANNER. <br />5.3. AT THE COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT, NEATLY TYPED ACCURATE PANELBOARD DIRECTORIES <br />INDICATING ALL BRANCH CIRCUITS AND SPARES WILL BE PROVIDED. ALL SPARES SHALL BE LEFT <br />IN THE OFF POSITION. <br />5.4. ALL SAFETY SWITCHES SHALL BE HEAVY DUTY TYPE WITH COVER INTERLOCK AND HANDLE <br />LOCK OFF PROVISIONS. SWITCHES SHALL BE MANUFACTURED BY A COMPANY CONSISTENT <br />WITH OTHER INSTALLED EQUIPMENT WHENEVER POSSIBLE. PART NUMBERS, RATING AND <br />FUSING SHALL BE AS SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS. <br />5.5. CONTRACTOR SHALL ENSURE ALL CEC AND MAINTENANCE CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS ARE <br />MET FOR NEW EQUIPMENT AND MAINTAINED FOR EXISTING EQUIPMENT. <br />5.6. CONTRACTOR SHALL FIELD VERIFY EQUIPMENT CLEARANCES AND PLACEMENTS WHILE <br />COORDINATING LOCATIONS WITH OTHER TRADES, CONSTRUCTION MANAGERS, AND SITE <br />SUPERVISORS PRIOR TO PURCHASING AND INSTALLING THE EQUIPMENT. <br />5.7. EVERY STRUCTURE AND PORTION THEREOF, INCLUDING NONSTRUCTURAL COMPONENTS THAT <br />ARE PERMANENTLY ATTACHED TO STRUCTURES AND THEIR SUPPORTS AND ATTACHMENTS, <br />SHALL BE DESIGNED AND CONSTRUCTED TO RESIST THE EFFECTS OF EARTHQUAKE MOTIONS <br />IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASCE 7, EXCLUDING CHAPTER 14 AND APPENDIX 11A. THE SEISMIC <br />DESIGN CATEGORY FOR A STRUCTURE IS PERMITTED TO BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE <br />WITH SECTION 1613 OR ASCE 7. <br />5.8. ALL CONNECTORS USED BETWEEN MODULES AND COMBINER BOXES SHALL BE THE SAME <br />MANUFACTURER AND OF THE SAME MODEL SERIES. THERE SHALL BE NO MIXING <br />MANUFACTURERS OR MODELS FOR ANY CONNECTION POINTS. <br />6. WIRING DEVICES <br />6.1. RECEPTACLES SHALL BE AS DESIGNATED ON THE DRAWINGS AND SHOULD BE A BRAND <br />CONSISTENT WITH OTHERS IN THE VICINITY WHENEVER POSSIBLE. <br />6.2. ALL WIRING DEVICES SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH APPROPRIATE COVER PLATES. ANY EMPTY <br />BOXES WILL HAVE BLANK COVER PLATES. COVER PLATES SHALL BE LEXAN, PLASTIC OR <br />STAINLESS STEEL IN FINISHED AREA.
