Project No.: 2157-S
1433 Cypress Ave, Santa Ana
CITY OF SANTA ANA
Planrftgan4 Building Agency
Screening criteria were performed for the samples between 14 and 51 feet, utiliz n4 ed
t Approvpprov DANCE
(PI) and saturated moisture content (wsat) in accordance with the procedure referenced in the Bray
and Sancio paper. The soils having PI>18 and wsat<0.8LL were classified "non -liquefiable". The
Master ID:
result of the screening assessment is summarized on Table 1. The graphicaff
ll
Wsentation of
liquefaction susceptible criteria is presented on Figure 1.
Figure. 1 Graphical Representation of Liquefaction Susceptible Criteria
Not Susceptible
Moderately Susceptible
Susceptible
0.4 0.5 0.6 0.7 0.8 0.9 1.0 1.1 1.2 1.3 1.4
We/LL
Reference: Bray J. ASCE, September 2006
For the soil layers not classified "non -liquefiable" in the screening criteria, liquefaction potential was
analyzed using an earthquake magnitude obtained from the USGS Interactive Deaggregation Web
Site in accordance with the "NCEER Workshop on Evaluation of Liquefaction Resistance of Soils,
December 31, 1997" for the following case:
Based on the Special Publication 117A, "Guidelines for Evaluating and Mitigating Seismic Hazards
in California" and the 2022 California Building Code, PGA of 0.59g corresponding to the PGAM with
2% probability of exceedance in 50 years and an earthquake magnitude of 7.0 were obtained from
the USGS Interactive Deaggregation Web Site. For the soil layers not classified "non -liquefiable" in
the screening criteria, liquefaction potential was analyzed utilizing the current groundwater table at
the site of 14 feet, in accordance with the "NCEER Workshop on Evaluation of Liquefaction
Resistance of Soils, December 31, 1997", and its result is provided on Table 1.
PACIFIC GEOTECH, INC.
