The braces <br />themselves need not be designed for overstrength, but the beams do need to be. <br />However, I have added the braces to the design rule too so that you can see they are <br />overdesigned. All of this shows up in the new reports. <br />Subsection 6a: The worst-case tension load in a rod brace including overstrength is at <br />member M861 under load combo 67 with a max tension of 10.2 kips. The rod brace <br />connections are made by using a hillside washer to spread the load to the web of the <br />column.
