<br />1.STORM DRAINAGE SYSTEMS SHOWN ON THESE PLANS HAVE BEEN DESIGNED FOR THE
<br />FINAL SITE CONDITION AT COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT. THE CONTRACTOR IS
<br />RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING ADEQUATE DRAINAGE OF THE SITE, DURING INTERIM
<br />CONDITIONS OF CONSTRUCTION.
<br />IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO PROVIDE THE OWNER WITH A

<br />THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ASSUME SOLE AND COMPLETE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE JOB
<br />SITE CONDITIONS INCLUDING SAFETY OF ALL PERSONS AND PROPERTY, DURING THE
<br />COURSE OF CONSTRUCTION OF THIS PROJECT. THIS REQUIREMENT SHALL APPLY
<br />CONTINUOUSLY, AND SHALL NOT BE LIMITED TO NORMAL WORKING HOURS.
<br />THE PROPOSED GRADE IS THE FINAL GRADE AND NOT THE ROUGH GRADE. THE
<br />CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBTRACT THE THICKNESS OF THE PAVED SECTION AND/OR
<br />LANDSCAPE TOPSOIL SECTION TO ARRIVE AT THE ROUGH GRADE ELEVATION.
<br />THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN AN O.S.H.A PERMIT FROM THE CALIFORNIA DIVISION OF

<br />THE EXISTING CONDITIONS SHOWN DIAGRAMMATICALLY ON THE PLANS ORIGINATED
<br />FROM AS BUILT DRAWINGS AND FIELD SURVEY. IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE
<br />CONTRACTOR TO VISIT THE JOB SITE AND VERIFY THE EXACT EXISTING CONDITIONS
<br />UNLESS CONCEALED BEFORE SUBMITTING HIS BID. ANY DISCREPANCY SHALL BE

<br />UNDERGROUND SERVICE ALERT:
<br />BEFORE COMMENCING ANY EXCAVATION, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN AN
<br />UNDERGROUND SERVICE ALERT INQUIRY I.D. NUMBER BY CALLING 1-800-422-4133. TWO (2)
<br />WORKING DAYS SHALL BE ALLOWED AFTER THE I.D. NUMBER IS OBTAINED AND BEFORE
<br />THE EXCAVATION WORK IS STARTED SO THAT UTILITY OWNERS CAN BE NOTIFIED.
<br />PROTECTION AND RESTORATION OF EXISTING IMPROVEMENTS:
<br />THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROTECTION OF PUBLIC AND
<br />PRIVATE PROPERTY ADJACENT TO THE WORK PER SECTION 7-9 OF THE STANDARD
<br />SPECIFICATIONS.
<br />REMOVALS:
<br />EXISTING STRUCTURES AND SUBSTRUCTURES WHICH ARE INDICATED TO BE REMOVED IN
<br />THIS CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS SHALL BE TOTALLY REMOVED AND DISPOSED OF
<br />OFFSITE, UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED. EXISTING FACILITIES WHICH ARE DISCOVERED
<br />DURING CONSTRUCTION (INCLUDING WALLS, FOOTINGS AND FOUNDATIONS) SHALL BE
<br />REPORTED TO AND COORDINATED WITH THE ARCHITECT/CPM AS TO THEIR REMOVAL.
<br />CONTRACTOR WILL NOTIFY THE CPM IN WRITING PRIOR TO COMMENCING THE WORK.
<br />ALL SITE PREPARATION AS INDICATED SHALL BE MADE UNDER THE CONTINUOUS
<br />INSPECTION OF THE CITY INSPECTOR AND CPM. SECURE THE REQUIRED PERMIT FROM
<br />THE CALIFORNIA DIVISION OF INDUSTRIAL SAFETY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF
<br />TRENCHES, SHORING OR EXCAVATIONS WHICH ARE 5 FEET OR DEEPER OR WORK THAT
<br />MAY JEOPARDIZE THE WORKERS. SHORING CALCULATIONS SHALL BE PROVIDED BY THE
<br />CONTRACTOR AS REQUIRED FOR APPROVAL AND PERMITTING.
<br />THE CONTRACTOR SHALL KEEP THE CONSTRUCTION AREA SUFFICIENTLY DAMPENED TO
<br />CONTROL DUST CAUSED BY WORK ACTIVITIES AS REQUIRED BY THE CITY AND
<br />JURISDICTIONAL AGENCY.
<br />ALL WORK IN THE PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY REQUIRES APPROVAL BY THE CITY OF LOS
<br />ANGELES DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS, (BUREAU OF ENGINEERING), BEFORE
<br />CONSTRUCTION BEGINS. CONTRACTOR SHALL SECURE AND PAY FOR ANY PERMIT
<br />INCLUDING UTILITY CONNECTIONS REQUIRED PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION.
<br />ALL FILL OR BACKFILL SHALL BE COMPACTED AS SPECIFIED IN THE GEOTECHNICAL
<br />REPORT.
<br />CONSTRUCTION STAKING AND ADJUSTMENTS FOR IMPROVEMENTS SHOWN ON THESE
<br />PLANS SHALL BE PERFORMED BY A LICENSED LAND SURVEYOR PAID FOR BY THE
<br />CONTRACTOR AND INCLUDED IN THE CONTRACT.
<br />VOIDS RESULTING FROM REMOVAL WORK SHALL BE FILLED WITH SUITABLE MATERIALS
<br />APPROVED BY THE OWNER RETAINED GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER AND COMPACTED TO
<br />95% MAXIMUM DENSITY PER ASTM D-1557.
<br />UPON COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT, CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE EXISTING
<br />CONSTRUCTION FENCING, APPURTENANCES AND OFFICE TRAILERS FROM THE SITE.
<br />PAVEMENT SHALL BE PATCHED AND REPAIRED TO MATCH ADJACENT PAVEMENT AND
<br />APPROVED BY THE CPM OR CITY INSPECTOR AS APPLICABLE.
<br />ANY ADDITIONAL SURVEYS OR TESTING AS A RESULT OF CONTRACTOR ERROR OR
<br />MISINFORMATION WILL BE CHARGED TO THE CONTRACTOR.
<br />CONSTRUCT STRAIGHT GRADES BETWEEN ELEVATIONS SHOWN ON PLAN UNLESS
<br />INTERRUPTED BY A GRADE CHANGE LINE. ANY DEVIATION FROM THE GRADING PLAN MUST
<br />HAVE PRIOR APPROVAL FROM THE ENGINEER.
<br />GRADE LAWN, TURF, AND PLANTING AREA 1-1/2" BELOW DESIGN GRADES INDICATED.
<br />ADJUST TO GRADE EXISTING MANHOLE RIMS, VALVE BOXES AND ELECTRICAL VAULT LIDS
<br />TO DESIGN GRADES WITHIN THE IMPROVEMENT AREA, UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE.
<br />CONTRACTOR TO VERIFY LOCATION AND NUMBER OF MANHOLE RIMS, VALVE BOXES AND

<br />MAINTAIN A RECORD OF LOCATION OF UTILITY MARKERS ON THE AS-BUILT PLAN AND

<br />INFORM THE SURVEYOR TO LOCATE AND RECORD ACTUAL LOCATIONS.
<br />IF EXISTING UTILITIES ARE EXPOSED OR DETERMINED TO EXIST UNDER THE ROUGH
<br />GRADING SITE, CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE A FLAGGED STAKE THAT INDICATES THEIR
<br />LOCATION, TYPE OF UTILITY, SIZE, PIPE MATERIAL AND DEPTH. STAKES SHALL BE
<br />INSTALLED NO LESS THAN 50' ON CENTER ON STRAIGHT LINES AND AT BENDS.
<br />UNCLOG, CLEAN AND FLUSH THE WORK AREA DRAINAGE SYSTEM AFTER PAVING AND
<br />IMMEDIATELY BEFORE A RAIN FORECAST.
<br />ALL GRADING AND CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES SHALL COMPLY WITH THE LOCAL
<br />GOVERNING AGENCY'S PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT THAT CONTROLS AND RESTRICTS
<br />NOISE FROM THE USE OF CONSTRUCTION AND GRADING EQUIPMENT FROM THE HOURS
<br />OF 8:00 PM TO 6:30 AM, AND ON SUNDAY AND HOLIDAY. (MORE RESTRICTIVE
<br />CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY TIMES MAY GOVERN, AS REQUIRED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF

<br />ALL EXPORT OF MATERIAL FROM THE SITE MUST GO TO A PERMITTED SITE OR A LEGAL
<br />DUMPSITE. RECEIPTS FOR ACCEPTANCE OF EXCESS MATERIAL BY A DUMPSITE ARE
<br />REQUIRED AND MUST BE PROVIDED TO THE INSPECTOR OF RECORD UPON REQUEST.
<br />A COPY OF THE GRADING PERMIT AND APPROVED GRADING PLANS MUST BE IN THE
<br />POSSESSION OF A RESPONSIBLE PERSON AND AVAILABLE AT THE SITE AT ALL TIMES.
<br />SITE BOUNDARIES, EASEMENTS, DRAINAGE DEVICES, RESTRICTED USE AREAS SHALL BE
<br />LOCATED PER CONSTRUCTION STAKING BY A LICENSED SURVEYOR. PRIOR TO GRADING,
<br />AS REQUESTED BY THE INSPECTOR OF RECORD, ALL PROPERTY LINES, EASEMENTS, AND
<br />RESTRICTED USE AREAS SHALL BE STAKED.
<br />IF GRADING AUTHORIZED BY THIS PLAN IS TO EXTEND THROUGH THE RAINY SEASON,
<br />OCTOBER 1 THROUGH APRIL 15 OF THE FOLLOWING YEAR, SEPARATE UPDATED PLANS
<br />FOR EROSION CONTROL MUST BE SUBMITTED PRIOR TO OCTOBER TO THE CITY ENGINEER

<br />MAINTAINING WATER SERVICE SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR FOR ANY
<br />SHUTDOWN LASTING LONGER THAN FOUR (4) HOURS. METHOD OF PROVIDING TEMPORARY
<br />SERVICE MUST BE APPROVED BY THE WATER RESOURCES DIVISION. THE WATER SHALL BE
<br />SAFE FOR DRINKING IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE OF CALIFORNIA WATER RESOURCES
<br />CONTROL BOARD (SWRCB) DRINKING WATER PROGRAM (DWP).
<br />WATER METER WILL NOT BE INSTALLED NOR WATER TURNED ON UNTIL THE BACKFLOW
<br />DEVICES REQUIRED FOR THE BUILDING AND IRRIGATION SYSTEMS HAVE BEEN INSTALLED,

<br />ALL OTHER PIPE MATERIALS REQUIRE SPECIAL REVIEW AND APPROVAL FROM THE WATER
<br />RESOURCES DIVISION.
<br />WATER MAINS SHALL HAVE 36" MINIMUM COVER TO FINISHED GRADE. ANY DEVIATION FROM
<br />THIS REQUIREMENT REQUIRES APPROVAL FROM THE WATER RESOURCES DIVISION.
<br />CONTRACTOR TO VERIFY DEPTH AND LOCATION OF ALL UTILITIES AND POINTS OF
<br />CONNECTION PRIOR TO TRENCHING.

<br />YARD LOCATED AT 215 S. CENTER STREET. PRIOR NOTIFICATION OF THE DELIVERY IS

<br />NEW CURB AND GUTTER OR AFTER CONTRACTOR HAS ESTABLISHED THE PROPOSED CURB BY
<br />STAKING OF THE PROPOSED CURB.
<br />WATER GENERAL NOTES:
<br />1.CONSTRUCTION AND INSTALLATION OF ALL WATER MAINS AND APPURTENANCES SHALL BE IN
<br />ACCORDANCE WITH THE CITY OF SANTA ANA STANDARD PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS. WHERE
<br />THE STANDARD PLANS ARE SILENT, CONSTRUCTION AND INSTALLATION OF WATER MAINS AND

<br />SPECIFICATIONS AND THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR PUBLIC WORKS CONSTRUCTION,

<br />CONSTRUCTION OF WATER MAINS AND APPURTENANCES SHALL ONLY BE PERFORMED BY
<br />QUALIFIED CONTRACTORS WITH A VALID CALIFORNIA CONTRACTOR A OR C34 LICENSE.
<br />NO PERSON, OTHER THAN CITY OF SANTA ANA WATER RESOURCES DIVISION STAFF CERTIFIED
<br />BY THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA AS A WATER DISTRIBUTION OPERATOR, SHALL BE ALLOWED TO
<br />OPERATE THE CITY'S WATER SYSTEM VALVES.
<br />NO PERSON, OTHER THAN CITY OF SANTA ANA WATER RESOURCES DIVISION STAFF
<br />CERTIFIED BY THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA AS A WATER DISTRIBUTION OPERATOR, SHALL SHUT
<br />WATER SERVICE OFF TO ANY CUSTOMER.
<br />PRIOR TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT TO THE CITY FOR
<br />REVIEW AND APPROVAL "DISINFECTION AND FLUSHING PLAN" PER THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
<br />DESIGN GUIDELINES AND STANDARD DRAWINGS.
<br />ALL NEWLY CONSTRUCTED WATER MAINS AND APPURTENANCES SHALL BE DISINFECTED AND
<br />TESTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH AMERICAN WATER WORKS ASSOCIATION STANDARD C600'S,
<br />PRIOR TO CONNECTING TO THE CITY'S WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM. DISINFECTION TESTING
<br />RESULTS SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO THE WATER RESOURCES DIVISION FOR REVIEW AND
<br />APPROVAL PRIOR TO CONNECTING TO THE CITY'S WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM.
<br />WATER MAINS WILL BE HYDROSTATIC TESTED AT 200 PSI FOR 2 HOURS. NEW WATER MAINS
<br />CANNOT BE TESTED AGAINST AN EXISTING VALVE BUT CAN BE TESTED USING A TEST PLATE.
<br />REQUEST TO SHUT-DOWN THE WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM FOR TIE-INS OR OTHER
<br />PURPOSES SHALL BE COORDINATED WITH THE WATER RESOURCES DIVISION STAFF AT LEAST
<br />2 WEEKS IN ADVANCE THROUGH THE CITY INSPECTOR. ALL CUSTOMER AFFECTED BY THE
<br />PROPOSED SHUT DOWN SHALL BE NOTIFIED IN WRITING 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE BY THE
<br />CONTRACTOR.
<br />THE CITY OF SANTA ANA WATER RESOURCES DIVISION CANNOT GUARANTEE A COMPLETE
<br />SHUTDOWN OF EXISTING MAINS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DEWATERING
<br />AND ISOLATION OF CONSTRUCTION FOR TESTING OR ANY OTHER PURPOSES.
<br />ALL FIRE HYDRANTS WHICH ARE OUT OF SERVICE OR NEW FIRE HYDRANTS WHICH HAVE NOT
<br />BEEN ACCEPTED FOR SERVICE SHALL BE COVERED WITH A SACK INDICATING THAT THE
<br />HYDRANTS ARE NOT IN SERVICE.
