THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REPAIR OR REPLACE ANY <br />ITEM WHICH MAY PROVE DEFECTIVE WITHIN ONE (1) YEAR FROM THE DATE <br />THE APPARATUS IS ACCEPTED AND PLACED IN OPERATION WITHOUT ANY <br />ADDITIONAL COST TO THE OWNER. <br />5.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN AND PAY FOR ALL PERMITS, LICENSES, <br />AND INSPECTIONS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE PLUMBING WORK. <br />6.THE DRAWING INDICATES IN DIAGRAMMATIC FORM ARRANGEMENTS <br />DESIRED FOR PRINCIPAL APPARATUS, PIPING, ETC., AND SHALL BE <br />FOLLOWED AS CLOSELY AS POSSIBLE. SCALED AND FIGURED DIMENSIONS <br />ARE APPROXIMATE AND ARE GIVEN FOR ESTIMATE PURPOSES ONLY. <br />BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH ANY WORK, CHECK AND VERIFY EXISTING <br />CONDITIONS, DIMENSIONS, SIZES AND ASSUME FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR <br />FITTING-IN OF EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS, (INCLUDING PROVISION FOR <br />OFFSETS, BENDS, ELBOWS, ETC.). <br />7.BEFORE SUBMITTING BIDS FOR THE WORK, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAKE <br />A THOROUGH FIELD SURVEY OF THE WORK TO DETERMINE ANY EXISTING <br />INTERFERENCES THAT MAY AFFECT THE INSTALLATION OF THE WORK. APPOINTMENTS FOR FIELD SURVEY SHALL BE MADE <br />THROUGH THE OWNER. <br />8.SHOP DRAWINGS AND MATERIAL LISTS SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO THE <br />ENGINEER AND OWNER FOR REVIEW AT LEAST THIRTY (30) DAYS PRIOR TO <br />THE START OF ANY WORK. NO WORK INDICATED ON ANY OF THE PLANS OR <br />SHOP DRAWINGS SHALL BE PERFORMED, UNTIL THE SHOP DRAWINGS HAVE <br />BEEN REVIEWED BY THE ENGINEER AND OWNER. <br />9.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL CUTTING, TRENCHING, <br />BACKFILLING AND PATCHING TO COMPLETE THE INSTALLATION OF THE <br />PLUMBING WORK. ALL EXPOSED FINISHED AREAS THAT ARE DAMAGED AS A <br />RESULT OF THIS WORK SHALL BE REPAIRED TO MATCH THE EXISTING <br />CONDITIONS AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO THE OWNER. <br />10.VERIFY SIZES AND LOCATIONS OF ALL OPENINGS OR HOLES, SAWCUT OR <br />CORE DRILLED THROUGH EXISTING BUILDING STRUCTURE WITH <br />STRUCTURAL ENGINEER. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONSIDER ALL <br />CONCRETE ROOF OR FLOOR SLABS TO BE PRESTRESSED CONCRETE <br />CONSTRUCTION UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. SUCH ROOF OR FLOOR SLABS <br />MAY BE REQUIRED TO BE X-RAYED OR OTHERWISE VERIFIED BY <br />STRUCTURAL ENGINEER BEFORE ANY SAWCUTTING OR CORE DRILLING IS <br />PERFORMED. THE PLUMBING DRAWINGS ONLY INDICATE IN DIAGRAMATIC <br />FORM THE APPROXIMATE SIZE AND LOCATION OF OPENINGS OR HOLES TO <br />BE MADE IN BUILDING STRUCTURE TO PROVIDE FOR EQUIPMENT AND <br />PIPING. THE ACTUAL SIZE AND LOCATION OF OPENINGS OR HOLES TO BE <br />MADE IN BUILDING STRUCTURE SHALL CONFORM TO THE STRUCTURAL <br />ENGINEER'S REQUIREMENTS WITHOUT EXCEPTION. <br />11.ALL CONSTRUCTION SITES SHALL BE PROPERLY PROTECTED WITH <br />BARRICADES, WARNING FLAGS, FENCING, AND LIGHTS AS REQUIRED BY <br />CODE AND THE OWNER'S SECURITY DEPARTMENT. PROVIDE SHORING, <br />BRACING, AND ACCESS LADDERS AS REQUIRED BY CODE. TAKE EXTRA <br />CARE TO INSTRUCT ALL PERSONNEL ON SAFETY PROCEDURES. TAKE CARE <br />TO AVOID DAMAGE TO ADJACENT PIPING AND ELECTRIC SERVICES. <br />12.ALL UTILITY SHUT-DOWNS SHALL BE SCHEDULED AT LEAST TWO (2) DAYS IN <br />ADVANCE THROUGH THE OWNER. PROVIDE CONTINUOUS "FIRE WATCH <br />GUARD" TO ALL AREAS AFFECTED BY SHUT-DOWN OF ANY FIRE PROTECTION <br />WATER SERVICE. NOT LESS THAN <br />1/2-INCH OF CLEAR SPACE SHALL EXIST BETWEEN THE FINISHED SURFACE <br />AND OTHER WORK, AND BETWEEN FINISHED SURFACE OF PARALLEL <br />ADJACENT PIPING. <br />6.PIPE ENDS SHALL BE REAMED BEFORE JOINT CONNECTIONS ARE MADE. <br />SCREWED JOINTS SHALL BE MADE UP WITH TFE JOINT COMPOUND OR TEFLON <br />TAPE. NOT MORE THAN THREE THREADS SHALL SHOW AFTER THE JOINT IS <br />MADE UP. JOINT COMPOUND OR TAPE SHALL BE APPLIED TO THE MALE <br />THREADS ONLY. TAKE CARE TO PREVENT JOINT COMPOUND FROM REACHING <br />THE INTERIOR OF THE PIPE. <br />7.ESCUTCHEONS SHALL BE PROVIDED AT ALL PENETRATIONS INTO FINISHED <br />AREAS. WHERE FINISHED AREAS ARE SEPARATED BY PARTITIONS, <br />ESCUTCHEONS SHALL BE PROVIDED ON BOTH SIDES OF THE PARTITION. FOR <br />INSULATED PIPES, THE ESCUTCHEONS SHALL BE LARGE ENOUGH TO FIT <br />AROUND THE INSULATION.ALL ESCUTCHEONS SHALL BE FIRMLY ANCHORED <br />WITH SETSCREWS. <br />8.ALL HOT WATER PIPING SUBJECT TO EXPANSION AND CONTRACTION BE <br />INSTALLED WITH EXPANSION LOOPS, SWING JOINTS, OR APPROVED METHODS <br />OR DEVICES. BRANCH LINES FROM TO EXPANSION OR CONTRACTION SHALL <br />HAVE A SWING JOINT AT THE CONNECTION TO THE MAIN. TEST DRAINAGE AND VENT PIPING <br />HYDROSTATICALLY BY TIGHTLY CLOSING ALL OPENINGS AND APPLYING A <br />10-FOOT HEAD OF WATER PRESSURE FOR 2-HOURS, MEASURED AT THE <br />HIGHEST POINT OF THE VENT SYSTEM. RESEAL AND RETEST ALL PIPING <br />SYSTEM UNTIL THEY PASS. <br />10.AT THE COMPLETION OF THE WORK, ALL PARTS OF THE INSTALLATION SHALL <br />BE THOROUGHLY CLEANED. ALL FIXTURES, VALVES, PIPES, AND FITTINGS <br />SHALL BE CLEANED OF GREASE, METAL CUTTINGS, SLUDGE, AND OTHER <br />DEBRIS THAT MAY HAVE ACCUMULATED DURING INSTALLATION. ALL WATER <br />PIPING SHALL BE STERILIZED WITH A SOLUTION OF CHLORINE AND WATER. <br />THE SOLUTION SHALL NOT CONTAIN LESS THAN 50 PARTS PER MILLION OF <br />AVAILABLE CHLORINE. THE SOLUTION SHALL BE HELD FOR NOT LESS THAN <br />8-HOURS.
