<br />3119B.1 ENCLOSURE. THE POOL SHALL BE ENCLOSED BY ONE OR A
<br />COMBINATION OF THE FOLLOWING: A FENCE, PORTION OF A BUILDING,
<br />WALL, OR OTHER APPROVED DURABLE ENCLOSURE. DOORS, WINDOWS,
<br />GATES OF LIVING UNITS OR ASSOCIATED PRIVATE PREMISES SHALL NOT
<br />BE PERMITTED AS PART OF THE POOL ENCLOSURE. THE ENCLOSURE,
<br />DOORS AND GATES SHALL MEET ALL OF THE FOLLOWING
<br />SPECIFICATIONS:
<br />4.THE ENCLOSURE SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM EFFECTIVE PERPENDICULAR
<br />HEIGHT OF 5 FEET (1524 MM) AS MEASURED FROM THE OUTSIDE AS
<br />DEPICTED IN FIGURE 31B-4; AND
<br />5.OPENINGS, HOLES OR GAPS IN THE ENCLOSURE, DOORS AND/OR
<br />GATES SHALL NOT ALLOW THE PASSAGE OF A 4-INCH (102 MM)
<br />DIAMETER SPHERE. THE ENCLOSURE SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED OVER
<br />A HARD AND PERMANENT MATERIAL EQUIVALENT TO CONCRETE; AND
<br />6.THE ENCLOSURE SHALL BE DESIGNED AND CONSTRUCTED SO THAT IT
<br />CANNOT BE READILY CLIMBED BY SMALL CHILDREN. HORIZONTAL AND

<br />4.UP TO 2 INCH DIAMETER PIPE MAY BE PLACED IN THE LOWER OUTSIDE
<br />CORNER OF THE BOND BEAM PROVIDED A MINIMUM CLEARANCE EQUAL TO
<br />0.75 TIMES THE NOMINAL MAXIMUM AGGREGATE SIZE (I.E., 1/4 INCH FOR
<br />SHOTCRETE) IS MAINTAINED BETWEEN THE PIPE AND ANY PARALLEL
<br />REINFORCEMENT PER IBC 2018.
<br />5.IF METAL PIPING IS USED AND IS PLACED IN SHOTCRETE, IT SHALL BE
<br />WRAPPED WITH VISQUEEN OR HEAVY BROWN PAPER EXCEPT WHERE IT
<br />PASSES PERPENDICULARLY THROUGH THE SHOTCRETE.
<br />6.CONCRETE CAN BE PLACED AGAINST SHOTCRETE AND STRUCTURAL
<br />FOAM.
<br />7.ELECTRICAL SHALL BE SECURELY GROUNDED BEFORE APPLYING
<br />SHOTCRETE.
<br />8.ALL STATE AND LOCAL LAWS AND CODES SHALL BE FOLLOWED.
<br />9.POOL & SPA SHALL BE MAINTAINED FULL OF WATER EXCEPT DURING
<br />CHANGE OF WATER OR SIMILAR SHORT TERM MAINTENANCE ACTIVITIES.
<br />10.SHOTCRETE SHALL BE EQUAL TO CEMEX (MIX CODE: 1559997) 4,000 PSI, 3

<br />FLY ASH SHOTCRETE.
<br />11.THE BEGINNER OF RECORD FOR THE VAULT STRUCTURE SUPPORTING THE
<br />POOL SHALL REVIEW THE STRUCTURAL DETAILS AND BASED ON THE POOL
<br />DESIGN AND DEPTH, CERTIFY THAT THE VAULT STRUCTURE WAS
<br />DESIGNED TO SUPPORT THE WEIGHT OF THE POOL & SPA WITHOUT
<br />DEFLECTION.
<br />12.IF THE POOL & SPA ARE LOCATED SUCH THAT WATER LEAKAGE FROM THE
<br />THEM COULD DAMAGE UNDERLYING OR ADJACENT FACILITIES, A
<br />SECONDARY LEAKAGE CONTAINMENT AND DISPOSAL SYSTEM SHALL BE
<br />INCORPORATED AS PART OF THE POOL & SPA INSTALLATION.
<br />13.PRIOR TO THE APPLICATION OF THE POOL & SPA WATERPROOFING FINISH
<br />SURFACE COATING, THE SHOTCRETE SHELL SHALL BE CLOSELY EXAMINED
<br />TO LOCATE ANY SHRINKAGE CRACKS. THE SHRINKAGE CRACKS SHALL BE
<br />INJECTED WITH HIGH PRESSURE EPOXY TO THE GREATEST DEPTH
<br />POSSIBLE.
<br />STRUCTURAL SHOTCRETE
<br />1.SHOTCRETING SHALL CONFORM TO ALL REQUIREMENTS OF
<br />”SPECIFICATIONS FOR MATERIALS, PROPORTIONS, AND APPLICATION OF
<br />SHOTCRETE” (ACI--506.2, LATEST EDITION).
<br />2.PORTLAND CEMENT SHALL CONFORM TO ASTM C--150, TYPE I OR II,
<br />ALKALI CONTENT NOT TO EXCEED 0.6G WHEN §5 OR SMALLER BARS ARE
<br />USED, THERE SHALL BE A MINIMUM CLEARANCE BETWEEN PARALLEL.
<br />3.REINFORCEMENT BARS OF 2 1/2” INCHES. WHEN BARS LARGER THAN §5
<br />ARE USED, THERE SHALL BE A MINIMUM CLEARANCE BETWEEN PARALLEL
<br />BARS EQUAL TO 6 DIAMETERS OF THE BARS USED. WHEN T\Y0 CURTAINS
<br />OR STEEL ARE PROVIDED, THE CURTAIN NEAREST THE NOZZLE SHALL
<br />HA\/E A MINIMUM SPACING EQUAL TO 12 BAR DIAMETERS AND THE
<br />REMAINING CURTAIN SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM SPACING OF 6 BAR
<br />DIAMETERS.
<br />4.LAP SPLICES IN REINFORCING BARS SHALL BE BY THE NON--CONTACT
<br />LAP SLICE METHOD WITH AT LEAST 2 INCHES CLEARANCE BETWEEN
<br />BARS. CONTACT LAP SPLICES MAY BE PERMITTED WHEN NECESSARY
<br />FOR THE SUPPORT OF THE REINFORCING PROVIDED IT CAN BE
<br />DEMONSTRATED BE MEANS OF PRE--CONSTRUCTION TESTING THAT
<br />ADEQUATE ENCASEMENT OF THE BARS AT THE SPLICE CAN BE ACHIEVED
<br />AND PROVIDED THAT THE SPICES ARE PLACED SO THAT A LINE THROUGH
<br />THE CENTER OF THE TWO SPLICED BARS IN PERPENDICULAR TO THE
<br />SURFACE OF THE SHOTCRETE WORK.
<br />5.ANY REBOUND OR ACCUMULATED LOOSE AGGREGATE SHALL BE
<br />REMOVED FROM THE SURFACES TO BE COVERED PRIOR TO PLACING
<br />THE INITIAL OR ANY SUCCEEDING LAYERS OF SHOTCRETE. REBOUND
<br />SHALL NOT BE USED AS AGGREGATE.
<br />6.UNFINISHED W0RK SHALL NOT BE ALLOWED TO STAND FOR MORE THAN
<br />30 MINUTES UNLESS ALL EDGES ARE SKIPPED T0 A THIN EDGE. BEFORE
<br />PLACING ADDITIONAL MATERIEL ADJACENT TO PREVIOUSLY APPLIED
<br />WORK, SLOPING AND SQUARE EDGES SHALL BE CLEANED AND WETTED.
<br />7.IN PLACE SHOTCRETE WHICH EXHIBITS SAGS OR SLOUGHS,
<br />SEGREGATION, HONEYCOMBING, SAND POCKETS OR OTHER OBVIOUS
<br />DEFECTS SHALL BE REMOVED AND REPLACED. SHOTCRETE ABOVE SAGS
<br />AND SLOUGHS SHALL BE REMOVED AND REPLACED WHILE SILL PLASTIC.
<br />8.DURING THE CURING PERIODS SPECIFIED HEREIN.
<br />9.SHOTCRETE SHALL BE MAINTAINED ABOVE 40 DEGREE F AND IN MOIST
<br />CONDITION.
<br />10.IN INITIAL CURING, SHOTCRETE SHALL BE KEPT CONTINUOUSLY MOIST
<br />FOR 24 HOURS AFTER PLACEMENT IS COMPLETE.
<br />11.FINAL CURING SHALL CONTINUE FOR 7 DAYS AFTER SHOTCRETING FOR 3
<br />DAYS IF HIGH EARLY STRENGTH CEMENT IS USED, OR UNTIL THE
<br />SPECIFIED STRENGTH IS OBTAINED.
<br />12.FINAL CURING SHALL CONSIST OF A FOG SPRAY OR AN APPROVED
<br />MOISTURE RETAINING COVER OR MEMBRANE.
<br />13.IN SECTIONS OF A DEPTH IN EXCESS OF 12 INCHES, FINAL CURING SHALL
<br />BE THE SAME AS THAT FOR INITIAL CURING.
<br />14.STRENGTH TEST FOR SHOTCRETE SHALL BE MADE BY AN APPRO\/ED
<br />AGENCY ON SPECIMENS MICH ARE REPRESENTATIVE OF AND IN
<br />ACCORDANCE WITH THE IBC.
<br />15.WHEN SHOTCRETE IS USED FOR STRUCTURAL MEMBERS, A SPECIAL
<br />INSPECTOR IS REQUIRED. THE SPECIAL INSPECTOR SHALL PROVIDE
<br />CONTINUOUS INSPECTION OF THE PLACEMENT OF THE REINFORCEMENT
<br />AND SHOTCRETINC AND SHALL SUBMIT A STATEMENT INDICATING
<br />COMPLIANCE RTH THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, NOTE: SUMMARY
<br />SPECIAL INSPECTION SUBMITTED TO BUILDING DEPT.
