3rd & Broadway, Santa Ana, CA
Volume 2 - Structural Calculations June 17, 2024 | Project # S21043.00
pg. 26
4.2.2 MASS AND GRAVITY LOADING
The total weight and mass of each floor level (including the exterior cladding) are calculated within the
ETABS model. The self-weight (SW) of the structure is calculated automatically in the analytical model
with superimposed dead loads (SDL) added to account for the weight of topping slabs , landscape loads,
and other nonstructural components. The seismic mass of the SW and SDL are calculated automatically
in the seismic analysis. The live loads (LL) are applied per code requirements. P-Delta effects are
automatically calculated. See Section 2 of this report for the gravity loading used at each floor type.
The weight of the concrete components is assumed to be 150 pounds per cubic foot (pcf). The cladding
load is assumed to be 20 psf (curtain wall, metal panel rainscreen, and fabric screen) and 40 psf
(Procelain panelized rain screen, brick/tile finish) for both Residential and Hotel of vertical wall area.
The total seismic weight to be considered in the lateral analysis for Residential and Hotel are shown in
Section 2 of this report.
