Per Table 12.3-3 of ASCE 7-16 ρ=1 is permitted if removals of a shear <br />wall or wall pier with height to length ratio greater than 1.0 within any story it connects to would not: <br />1) Result in more than a 33% reduction in story strength. And <br />2) The resulting system has an extreme torsional irregularity. <br />For both the Residential and the Hotel building, all the shear wall and wall piers including the core walls <br />were checked, and none of them had a height to length ratio greater than 1.0. Per ASCE 7 -10, the <br />building is qualified for a redundancy factor of 1.0. <br />
