As shown on the following pages, the wall shear stresses meet
the maximum allowable shear stresses per ACI 318-14. The allowable shear stress is limited to 8√(f’c) for
the average shear stress of the entire core and is allowed to be 10√(f’c) when considering individual pier
walls.
The following figures show:
• The shear stress, τv is evaluated for the two load combinations which are normalized to 0.6 ∗√𝑓′𝑐
in the following figures.

LC1: 1.0*RSX+0.3*RSY
LC2: 1.0*RSY+0.3*RSX

• The maximum shear stress of the wall piers are less than the code shear stress limitation of
Φ10√(f’c), and therefore able to be designed (will be designed and detailed in the superstructure
package).
