Diagonal reinforcement satisfies <br /> <br /> ΦVn ≥ Vu. It is ΦVn = ΦAvdfysinθ, <br /> <br />where Φ=0.85 (shear of coupling beams), Avd is the reinforcement area of each group of diagonal bars, <br />and θ is the angle of the diagonal relative to the beam axis. Vn is checked to be less than the maximum <br />nominal shear strength, 18.10.7.4. Based on the present Avd, the moment strength inequality is checked <br /> ΦMn ≥ Mu. It is ΦMn = ΦAvdfy(cosθ)z, <br /> <br />where Φ=0.9, and z is the transverse distance of the horizontal components of diagonal forces. <br /> <br />
