Protection of existing trees, plants, and roots from damage. <br />1. Pruning of existing trees and plants <br />1.2 REFERENCE STANDARDS <br />A. ANSI A300 - Tree Care Operations Standards <br />B. Pruning practices shall conform with recommendations “Structural Pruning: A Guide For The <br />Green Industry”; Published by Urban Tree Foundation, Visalia, California; most current edition. <br />1.3 DEFINITIONS <br />A. Designated Trees: Existing Trees to Remain <br />B. Critical Root Zone (CRZ): <br />1. The CRZ for trees 4 inches in caliper or smaller shall be an area with a radius at least 5 feet <br />from the trunk. <br />2. CRZ for trees over 4 inches in caliper shall be an area that is 5 feet beyond the existing tree <br />canopy. <br />C. Zone of Protection: As indicated on Drawings. <br />D. Weed: A plant that is undesirable where it is growing. <br />1.4 PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES <br />A. Cutting of roots 2 inches in diameter or larger without approval. Damaging tree bark, branches. <br />B. Removal of protective fencing or notice posted on trees prior to approval of Substantial <br />Completion. <br />C. Activities prohibited within the Zone of Protection (without prior approval) are, but not limited <br />to: construction, operation of machinery, storage of materials, paving, grading, cutting, filling, <br />travel within, dumping, disposal of liquids, and parking of vehicles or equipment.
