Except for stripped topsoil and other materials indicated to be stockpiled or otherwise remain <br />Owner's property, cleared materials shall become Contractor's property and shall be removed <br />from Project site. <br />1.5 INFORMATIONAL SUBMITTALS <br />A. Existing Conditions: Documentation of existing trees and plantings, adjoining construction, and <br />site improvements that establishes preconstruction conditions that might be misconstrued as <br />damage caused by site clearing. <br />1. Use sufficiently detailed photographs or videotape. <br />2. Include plans and notations to indicate specific wounds and damage conditions of each <br />tree or other plants designated to remain. <br />B. Record Drawings: Identifying and accurately showing locations of capped utilities and other <br />subsurface structural, electrical, and mechanical conditions. Provide copy to Engineer of <br />Record. <br />1.6 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br />A. Pre-installation Conference: Conduct conference at project site. <br />1.7 PROJECT CONDITIONS <br />A. Existing Improvements: Provide protections necessary to prevent damage to existing <br />improvements indicated to remain in place. <br />1. Protect improvements on adjoining properties, public right-of-way and on Owner's <br />property. <br />2. Restore damaged improvements to their original condition, as acceptable to property <br />owners. The full width of pavements damaged due to construction access and other <br />construction-related activities shall be replaced with a structural section (pavement <br />and base) at least equal to the adjacent existing section. <br />3. Protect existing utility lines indicated to remain. Notify Architect immediately of any <br />damage to or encounter with an unknown existing utility line. Immediately repair <br />damage to existing utility lines. <br />B. Existing Trees and Vegetation: Protect existing trees and other vegetation indicated to remain in <br />place against unnecessary cutting, breaking or skinning of roots, skinning or bruising of bark, <br />smothering of trees by stockpiling construction materials or excavated materials within drip <br />line, excess foot or vehicular traffic, or parking of vehicles within drip line. Provide temporary <br />guards to protect trees and vegetation to be left standing. <br />1. Water trees and other vegetation to remain within limits of contract work as required <br />to maintain their health during course of construction operations. <br />2. Provide protection for roots over 1-1/2 inch in diameter that are cut during construc- <br />tion operations. Coat cut faces with an emulsified asphalt or other acceptable coating
