CLAMP HARDWARE
MOVING & STORING GLASS
• Inspect the panels upon delivery - if there are any chips or damages, notify Aquaview immediately.
• Glass should be stored in dry conditions, in an upright position with slight angle.
• Do not put glass bottom edge directly on the ground. Always ensure panels sit on rubber or wood. Do not allow
glass to come in contact with concrete, tiles, or any hard surface.
• When lifting glass, it should be kept in the upright position.
• Wear protective equipment including suitable gloves, steel capped boots and safety glasses.
Height: 7-1/2” (190mm)
Base: 3-3/4” (95mm) diameter
Height: 10-5/8” (270mm)
Diameter: 2” (50mm) with 3-1/2” (89mm) dress ring
Height: 11-13/16” (300mm)
Diameter: 2” (50mm) with 3-1/2” (89mm) dress ring
Internal screw must be secured with Loctite before install.
SURFACE PREPARATION
STONE / TILE
If there is concrete underneath, proceed as normal. If not, see below.
WOOD
Ensure the clamps are attaching to structural elements of your deck, and there is at least 4” of wood to lag screw into.
Fixing wood blocking between joists underneath your deck allows the clamp to be mounted to structural
elements of your deck – ie bearers and joists. Decking boards alone are not structural, nor are free-fl oating blocks of
wood under each clamp location! Alternatively, you can also pour concrete footings underneath the deck.
HOW TO LEVEL & PLUMB GLASS
CONCRETE FOOTINGS
Needed if surface is pavers over sand, or grass/dirt
A) 12” wide x 18” deep continuous curb, or
B) 12” diameter x 18” deep sonotube “piers” at each clamp location
Use concrete 3000psi or stronger. Let the footing cure completely.
Then install core mount or surface mount clamps as if the footing
were existing concrete. Do not set core clamps into a wet pour, or
they will shift! If fi xing to pavers, you will need to pour a concrete
footing underneath and re-cement pavers to footing.
• With glass fencing, the small details matter. The job is not fi nished until you
ensure all panels are aligned, spacing is even (typically 1” between panels),
and the tops of all panels are level.
• Check the horizontal and vertical level of each panel. Make adjustments
if needed.
• Use plastic shims (not supplied) for minor height adjustments. Place shim in
the “seat” of the clamp under the glass panel to raise it until height is
consistently level across the tops of all panels.
• Vertical alignment can be adjusted by tightening either the top or bottom
grub screw. Shims can also be inserted on respective side to adjust glass tilt.
CMU BLOCK WALL
Only possible if wall is strong enough to support the weight of the glass. It cannot be hollow. Every cell in the wall
must be fi lled with solid concrete 4000psi.
CONCRETE SLAB
Slab should be at least 4” thick, with concrete 3000psi or stronger. If installing clamps near slab edge, distance between
clamp and edge of slab should be at least 6” to avoid cracking.
Note: with core mount clamps, you may end up core drilling all the way through the slab into the dirt. This is OK.
Important! Check - is the surface even and
level? When you measure the layout, make
sure to measure changes in elevation too.
UNEVEN SURFACES
If signifi cant, Aquaview can cut sloped
panels (please notify in advance). If minor,
use shims under glass. Core clamps are also
recommended, as they allow more fl exibility.
• Mark the centerline of proposed glass fence with a chalk line. Mark out
the panel sizes based on the project CAD drawing, including panel spacing.
• Mark the clamp locations.
• Use the clamp as a template to mark out the position of the holes and drill
to suit. (Note: Square clamps have 2 holes, and Round clamps have
4 holes.)
• Check level of fl oor. If needed, plumb with shims under the base plates
before anchoring (shims supplied by Installer).
• Drill a pilot hole, then secure clamps with wedge anchors or lag bolts,
depending on ground surface (anchors supplied by Installer).
• We suggest installing a clamp at each end of a straight run and then use a
string line to set the clamp heights in between.
• It is important to position clamps in the correct line as plumb as possible
to minimize glass adjustment.
• Round clamps only: slip cover plate over clamp
• Insert glass into the clamps. First, line clamp opening with rubber gasket.
Gently lower glass panel into the clamp, now lined with the rubber gasket.
Insert metal pressure plate between the rubber and the inside of clamp.
• Tighten glass in place with an allen key. Ensure there is rubber between the
glass and metal; at no stage should the glass touch metal.
• Check that clamps have been attached straight by using a setsquare.
• Slide dress ring onto clamp and secure to panel with masking tape.
• Place wood setting blocks (~2” tall) under each panel location. Gently lower the
