EXPEDITED PERMIT PROCESS FoR PV SYSTEMS
STANDARD STRING SYSTEM
The Solar America Board for Codes and Srandards (Solar ABCs) Expedired Permir Pro-
cess provides a means to differenriate systems (hat can be permitted quickly and easily
due to their similarity wirh rhe majoriry of small-scale PV sysrems. Those sysrems wirh
unique characteristics may be handled with small additions to rhis Expedited Permit
Process or may require much more information. depending on the uniqueness of the
insrallation.
The following pages contain forms for the Slandard String System ro use wirh rhe Expe-
dited Permit Process. The Micro-lnverter, AC Module. and Supply'Side Connecrion forms
are also available as interacrive PDF files at rvrv',v.solarabcs org/perrnirring ln jurisdic-
tions that have adopted the Expedited Permit Process for PV Sysrems. these forms can
be filled out electronically and submitted in either prinred form and via email An elec-
tronic format is used so thar the supplied informarion is srandardized and legible [or rhe

EXPEDITED PERMIT PROCESS FoR SMALL-SCALE PV SySTTMS, STANDARD STRING SYSTEM
The information in this guideline is intended to help local jurisdictions and contractors identify when PV system installations
are simple, needing only a basic review and when an installation is more complex. lI is likely lhat 50%-75% of all residential
.systems will comply with these simple criteria. For projects (hat fail to meet the simple criteria, resolution steps have been
suggesred Io provide as a path to permit approval
Required Infonnation for Permit:
I Site plan showing location of major components on the propefiy This drawing need nor be exactly to scale. but iI
should represent relative location of components al sire (see supplied example site plan) PV arrays on dwellings
with a 3 perime{er space at ridge and sides may no( need separate hre servrce review
2 Electrical diagram showing PV array conhguration. wiring system, overcurrenr proreclron. rnvertet drsconnects,
required sjgns, and ac connection to building (see supplied standard electrjcal diagram).
3 Specihcalion sheets and installation manuals (if available) for all manufactured componenrs including, bul not
limited to. PV modules. inverter(s). combiner box. disconnects, and mounting system
