MICRO-INVERTER
the informarion in rhis guideline is inrended [o help local jurisdicrions and conrractors idenrify when PV s]srem insEllarions
are simple, needing only a basic review and when an insallation is more complex. lL is likely rhar 50 %'75 of all residenrial
systems will comply with these simple criteria. For projects thal fail ro meer rhe simple crireria, resolurion steps have been
suggested to provide as a path to permit approval.

l. Site plan showing localion of major components on the property. This drawing need nor be exactly ro scale, bur ir
should represent relative location of componenrs ar sire (see supplied example sile plan). PV arrays on dwellings
with a l'peflmerer space ar ridge and sides may nor need separare frre servrce revrew.
2. Electrical diagram showing PV array conhgurarion. winng sysrern. o\ercurrenr prorec on. rnverter. disconnects,
required signs. and ac connecLion ro building (see supplied smndard elecrrical diagram).
3. Specifrcarion sheets and inslallation manuals trl available) lor all manufacrured componenrs including. but nor
limited lo, PV modules, inverrer(s). combiner box. disconnecrs, and mounring sysrem.

l. PV modules. utrlrly'rnteracri!e in',erters. and combiner boxes are idenrified for use rn PV syslems.
2. The PV array is composed of 4 series strings or less per invefter.
i. The toral inverler capaciry has a conrinuous ac power ourpur I3.440 Walrs or less
4. The ac interconnection point is on rhe load side o[ service disconnecling means (6q0.64(B)).
5. One of the sEndard electrical diagrams(El.l.El.la.El.lb.orEl.lc) canbeused ro accurarely represenr the PV
system. lnteracrive PDF diagrams are available aI www.solarabcs.org/permitting.

State of California requires that smok3 and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms ai'e installed in residential

California Residential Code (CRC) Section R]14.1 and R315.2 states in part that existing dwellin8s be
"retrolitted with smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms. CRC Section R314.3 and R315.3 define
the required locations.

Retrofitted detectors may be battery-operated for buildings where no interior alterations are

by the State Fire Marshall (sFM). 8attery life must be 10 years.
