EXPEDITED PERMIT PROCESS FOR SMALL-SCALE PV SYSTEMS

The informarion in rhis guideline is intended to help local Jurisdicr ions and contractors identify when PV system installations
are simple, needing only a basic review and when an installation is more complex. lt is lrkely rhat 50%-75% of all residential
systems will comply with these simple criteria For projects thar fail to meet the simple criteria. resolution steps have been
sugqested to provide as a path ro permit approval

Step 2: Electrical Review of PV System (Calculations lor Electrical Diagram)
ln order for a Pv system to be consider€d for an expedited permit ptocess, the following must apply:
l. PV modules. utility-interactive inverlers, and conrbiner boxes are ideniihed for use in PV systems.
2. The PV array rs composed of 4 series strings or less per inverter.
3. The total inverter capacity has a continuous ac power output 13,440 watts or less
4. The ac interconnecrion poinr is on rhe load side of service disconnecting means (690.64(B))
5 One of rhe srandard electrical diagrams (El l, El.la, El.lb. or El.lc) can be used to accurately represenl the PV
sysrem lnreractive PDF diagrams are available at wwwsolarabcs.org/permitting.
Fill out the standard electrical diagran co,npleteb,. A guide to the electrical diagran is provided to help the applicant
understand each btank to fll in lf the electical system is more complex than the standord electrical diagram can elJectively
communicate, provide an alternative diagram with appropriate detail.
