MICRO_INVERTER
The Solar America Board for Codes and Srandards (Solar ABCS) Expedired permir pro_
cess provides a means ro differenriare sysrems that can be permirred quickly and easily
due to their similariry with the majority of small-scale pV sysrems. Those sysrems wirh
unique characteristics may be handled wirh small additions ro this Expedited permit
Process or may require much more informarion, depending on the uniqueness of the
installation
The following pages conEin forms for the Micro-rnverrer to use wirh the Expedited per-
mit Process. The Srandard Srring, AC Module. and Supply-Side Connection forms
are also available as interacrive pDF files at www.solarabcs.org/permitting In jurisdic-
tions rhat have adopted rhe Expedired permir process for pV Sysrems. these forms can
be filled our electronically and submirred in eirher printed form and via email. An elec-

. EXPEDITED PERMIT PROCESS FOR SMALL-SCALE PV SYSTEUS
MICRo-INVERTER
The informarion in this guideline is intended ro help local jurisdicrions and contractors idenrify when pV sysrem installarions
are simple, needing only a basic revieq and when an insallation is more complex. Ir is likely thar SOX -liX of all residenrial
systems will comply wirh these simPle criteria. For projec6 that fail to meet the simple criteria. resolurion steps have been
suggesred ro provide as a parh ro permir approval.
Required Information Jot Perrnit:
l. Site Plan showing locarion of major components on the propeny. This drawing need not be exacrly ro scale, but ir
should represent relarive location of components ar sire (see supplied exampla sire plan). pV arrays on dwellings
with a 3 perimeter space a( ridge and sides may not need separate fire service review.
2 Electrical diagram showing PV array configuration. wiring system, overcurrent protection, invene( disconnects,
required signs, and ac connection ro building (see supplied sandard elecrrical diagram).
3. specifrcation sheets and installation manuals (if available) for all manufactured components including, but not
limited fo, PV modules. inverter(s), combiner box, disconnects, and mounting system

In order for a Pv slEtcm to be considcrrd for an cxpcdlt d pcrmit prcccss, tlre following must apply:
l. PV modules, utility-interactive inveners, and combiner boxes are identihed for use in pV systems.
2. The PV array is composed of 4 series strings or less per inverter.
3. The toal invener capaciry has a continuous ac power output I f.440 Watrs or less
