The Solar America Board for Codes and SEndards (Solar ABCS) Expedired permir pro-
cess provides a means ro differentiate sysrems that can be permitted quickly and easily
due to their similariry wirh rhe majoriry of small-scale pV sysrems. Those sysrems wirh
unique characteristics may be handled wirh small addirions to rhis Expedited permir
Process or may require much more iniormarion, depending on the uniqueness oF the
installation.
The following pages concain forms for the Micro-lnverrer ro use wirh the Expedired per.
mit Process. The Srandard Srring, AC Module. and Supply-Side Connecrion forms
are also available as inreractive PDF tiles ar !t.ww solarabcs.org/perm lr nq In jurisdic-
tions thar have adopred the Expedired Permir Process for pV Systems. these forms can
be filled out electronically and submitted in eirher prinred form and via email. An elec-
tronic formar is used so rhat the supplied information is srandardized and legible for rhe
local jurisdiction.

The informalion in this guideline is intended to help local jurisdictions and conrracrors idenrify when pV sysrem insrallarions
are simple. needing only a basic review and when an installarion is more complex. lr is likely rhar 50%-75% of all residenrial
sysrems will comply with these simple criteria. For projects thaa fail to meer the simple criteria. resolurion steps have been
suggested to provide as a path to permir approval.

should represent relative location of components at site (see supplied example sire plan). pV arrays on dwellings
with a 5' perimeter space at ridge and sides may not need separate hre service review.
2. Elecrrical diagram showing PV array confrgurarion, wiring system. overcurrent protection, inverte( disconnects,
required signs, and ac connection ro building (see supplied srandard elecrrical diagram).
3. specihcation sheers and installarion manuals (if available) for all manufaccured componenrs including. bur nor
limired to. PV modules. inverter(s), combiner box, disconnects, and mounting system.

Step 2: Electrical Review of PV System (Calculations lor Electrical Diagram)
In otder for a PV system to be considerEd for an expedited permit process, the following must apply:
l. PV modules. uliliry-interactive inveners, and combiner boxes are idenrihed for use in pV systems.
2. The PV array is composed of 4 series strings or less per inverter
3. The total inverter capacity has a continuous ac power output lj.44O Watts or less
4. The ac interconnecrion point is on rhe load side of service disconnecring means (690.64(B)).
5. One of the standard electrical diagrams (E l I . E I . I a, E L I b, or E I . I c) can be used ro accurarely represenr rhe pV
