STANDARD STRINC SYSTEM
The Solar America Board for Codes and Standards (Solar ABCS) Expedired Permir Pro-
cess provides a means to differentiare sysrems rhat can be permitted quickly and easily
due ro their similarity with the majoriry of small-scale PV sysrems. Those systems wirh
unique characteristics may be handled wirh small addirions ro rhis Expedired Permir
Process or may require much more informarion. depending on the uniqueness of the
installation
The following pages conrain forms for rhe Srandard S(ring Sysrem ro use wirh rhe Expe-
dited Permir Process. The Micro-lnverret AC Module, and Supply-Side Connecrion forms
are also available as interactive PDF files at www solarabcs org/permitring In jurisdic-
tions that have adopted the Expedited Permit Process for PV Systems, these Forms can
be filled out electronically and submirted in eirher prinred form and via email. An elec-
tronic format is used so that the supplied informarion is srandardized and legible tor rhe
local jurisdicrion.

EXI,EDITED PERMIT I,RoCESS FoR SMALL_SCALE I,V SYSTEMS
STANDARD STRING SYSTEIvI
The informalion in this guideline is intended to help local jurisdictions and contractors identity when Pv system insrallarions
are simple. needing only a basic review and when an insEllation is more complex. Ir is likely rhar 50% -75% of all residenrial
systems wrll comply with these slmple cnteria. For projects that fa,l to meet the simple crireria, resolution sreps have been
su&gested to provide as a parh to permit approval.
Required Inlormation for Permit:
l. Site plan showing iocation ol major components on the property. This drawing need not be exacrly ro scale, but tt
should represent relative location of components at site (see supplied example site plan). PV arrays on dwellings
with a S perimeter space at ridge and sides may nor need separare nre service review
2. Electrical diagram showing PV array connguration. wiring system. overcurrent prorecrion, inverrer, disconnects.
required signs, and ac connecrion to building (see supplied smndard elecrrical diagram).
5. Specihcation sheets and installation manuals (if available) for all manufactured components including, but nor
limited to, PV modules, inverrer(s), combiner box, disconnecrs. and mounring system

In order for a PV system to be considered for an expedited permit process, the following must apply:
l. PV modules, utility-interactive inverters, and combiner boxes are identined for use in PV systems.
2. The PV array is composed of 4 series srrings or less per inverter
f. The total inverter capacity has a conrinuous ac power output 13.440 watts or less
4. The ac interconnection point is on fhe load side of service disconnecring means (690.64(8)).
