to constitute a dangerous building due to non-compliance with Article XI(consisting of Sections 8-2000 to 8-2007) of Chapter 8 of Ehe SAMC en-!it1ed rrEarthquake Hazard Reduction in Exist.ing Buildings". Article XIof Chapter 8 of the SAMC is commonly known as the Cityrs Seismic Safety
Ordinance,
PursuanE to SAMC Section 8-2004(b), the deadline for compliance wirh Eheprovisions of the CiEyrs Seismic Safery Ordinance was July 29, 1986.
Compliance means either compleEing the necessary alEeraEions to bri.ng the
building into conformance with the ordinance, or demolishing the struclure.
YOU ARE THEREF0RE FURTHER ADVISED that pursuant !o Seccion 701(c) of the
Uniform Code for the Abat.ement of Dangerous Buildings, a copy of which is
attached hereto as Exhibit. "A" and incorporated herein by reference, thaEif, by August 29, L986, required repair work has noE been completed, theCity of Santa Ana inEends to enforce it.s Seismj-c Safety Ordinance in
accordance with any or all of the provisions of Section 701(c).

A reviev of our records reveals that you have obtaj.ned a building perrnit for the
seismic rehabilitation of the subject property pursuanE to the Cityts Seisnic Safety
Ordinance (sec. 8-200O throuBh 8-2007 S.A.M.C.)
However, the 1982 Uniform Building Code, section 303(d)entitled Expiration statesthat, "Every permit issued by the building official under the provision of this code
shall expire by limitation and become nu11 and voj-d if rhe building or work authorized
by such permit is not commenced vj.thin 180 days from the dat.e of such permit, or if Ehe
buildin or work authorized b such ermit is sus ended or abandoned at an time after
the work j.s commenced for a period of 180 da ys.
Failure to comply !,j.th the 180 day time lirnit.ation outlined under section 303(d) abovewill result in the expiration of your building permit, vhich in turn will necessilate
posting and vacation of the building i.n accordance vith the provisions of the Santa Ana
Seismic Safety Ordj-nance. A review of your permit and inspecEion record indicates that
your permit will exp ire on 2-22-A6 In order to continue your building
permit in fu1l force a City inspection must be requested prior to that date.
Therefore, I encourage you to continue construction work and call for an inspection at
834-4183 prior to Ehe above noted date.

City actions and of what is requj.red of you to coDply vith the Seismic Safety ordinance.

This ordinance, enti.tled "Earthquakl Hazard Reduction in ExistingBuildi.ngs" added Arricle xr, consistinS of seirions g-2ooo to g-2oo7, to chapt;r 8of.the san-La Ana Municipal code. on September g, 19g1, the ci,ty council adoptedOrdinance No. NS-l598, rrhich amended Articl.e xr of chapter g of the Munlcipal codeb1' amending sectlons 8-2002, B-2ooL, 8-2005 and 8-2006; and by adding secti.on 8-2004.5thereto. on March 14, 1983, rhe ciry council adopred ordinance No. s-1673, whichamended Arricle XI of chapter 8 of the Municipal code by anending sections g-2003,
8-2006 and 8-2oo7, and by adding Sections s-2003.1, 8-2003.5, "ni g-zooa.r rherero.Hereafter in this Norice, ordinance No. NS-l51g, as anended by ordinances Nos. NS-151gand NS-1673 will be referred to as the cityts *seismic safety 0rdinancer',

(Medium Risk) pursuant to the City's Seismic Safery Ordinance (Section 8-2000
through 8-2007 S.A.M.C. )
our records reflect that you obtained building permits for seismic rehabilitationof the subject buitding pursuant to said Seismic Safety ordlnance.
This letter is to inform you that under the provisions of the Ordinance the
required alterations must coffnence L,ithin one hundred eighty (180) days from the
date the permit b,as issued, and the buildlng must be corrected to neet the minimum
requi.rements of the 0rdinance not later than July 29, 1986. As you should be avare,this is the same information provided you in the original Notice and order sent to
you on July 29, 1983.
