The increase in weight as a result of the solar system is less than 10% of the existing structure and therefore no further seismic analysis is required.
Limits of Scope of Work and Liability
Existing structure is assumed to have been designed and constructed following appropriate codes at time of erection, and assumed to have appropriate permits. The calculations produced are only for the roof framing supporting the proposed
PV installation referenced in the stamped planset and were completed according to generally recognized structural analysis standards and procedures, professional engineering and design experience, opinions and judgements. Existing
deficiencies which are unknown or were not observable during time of inspection are not included in this scope of work. All PV modules, racking, and mounting equipment shall be designed and installed per manufacturer's approved installation
specifications. The Engineer of Record and Engineerinc assume no responsibility for misuse or improper installation. This analysis is not stamped for water leakage. Framing was determined based on information in provided plans and/or
photos, along with engineering judgement. Prior to commencement of work, the contractor shall verify the framing sizes, spacings, and spans noted in the stamped plans, calculations, and cert letter (where applicable) and notify the Engineer of
Record of any discrepancies prior to starting construction. Contractor shall also verify that there is no damaged framing that was not addressed in stamped plans, calculations, and cert letter (where applicable) and notify the Engineer of Record
of any concerns prior to starting construction. Prior to the commencement of work, the contractor shall verify the existing roof and framing conditions. Notify Engineerinc and the engineer of record of any Discrepancies prior to starting
construction. Prior to the commencement of work, the contractor shall inspect framing for any damage such as water damage, cracked framing, etc. and notify the E.O.R. if any issues are found.These plans/calculations are stamped for
structural code compliance of the roof framing supporting the proposed PV installation reference only. These plans/calculations are not stamped for water leakage. PV modules, racking, and attachment components must follow manufacturer
guidelines and requirements.

GENERAL NOTES
1. MODULES ARE LISTED UNDER UL 1703 AND CONFORM TO THE STANDARDS.

3. DRAWINGS ARE DIAGRAMMATIC, INDICATING GENERAL ARRANGEMENT OF THE PV SYSTEM AND THE ACTUAL

4. WORKING CLEARANCES AROUND THE NEW PV ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT WILL BE MAINTAINED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH CEC 110.26.
5. ALL GROUND WIRING CONNECTED TO THE MAIN SERVICE GROUNDING IN MAIN SERVICE PANEL/ SERVICE

8. THE SYSTEM WILL NOT BE INTERCONNECTED BY THE CONTRACTOR UNTIL APPROVAL FROM THE LOCAL
JURISDICTION AND/OR THE UTILITY.
9. ROOF ACCESS POINT SHALL BE LOCATED IN AREAS THAT DO NOT REQUIRE THE PLACEMENT OF GROUND
LADDERS OVER OPENINGS SUCH AS WINDOWS OR DOORS, AND LOCATED AT STRONG POINTS OF BUILDING
CONSTRUCTION WHERE THE ACCESS POINT DOES NOT CONFLICT WITH OVERHEAD OBSTRUCTIONS SUCH AS

1. ALL EQUIPMENT SHALL MEET MINIMUM SETBACKS AS REQUIRED BY CEC 110.26.
2. WIRING SYSTEMS INSTALLED IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT MUST BE RATED FOR EXPECTED OPERATING
TEMPERATURE AS SPECIFIED BY CEC 690.31 (A),(C) AND CEC TABLES 310.15 (B)(2)(A) AND 310.15 (B)(3)(C).
3. JUNCTION AND PULL BOXES PERMITTED INSTALLED UNDER PV MODULES ACCORDING TO CEC 690.34.
4. ADDITIONAL AC DISCONNECT(S) SHALL BE PROVIDED WHERE THE INVERTER IS NOT WITHIN SIGHT OF THE
AC SERVICING DISCONNECT.
5. ALL EQUIPMENT SHALL BE INSTALLED ACCESSIBLE TO QUALIFIED PERSONNEL ACCORDING TO CEC
APPLICABLE CODES.
6. ALL COMPONENTS ARE LISTED FOR THEIR PURPOSE AND RATED FOR OUTDOOR USAGE WHEN APPROPRIATE
STRUCTURAL NOTES:
1. RACKING SYSTEM & PV ARRAY WILL BE INSTALLED ACCORDING TO CODE-COMPLIANT INSTALLATION
MANUAL. TOP CLAMPS REQUIRE A DESIGNATED SPACE BETWEEN MODULES, AND RAILS MUST ALSO EXTEND
A MINIMUM DISTANCE BEYOND EITHER EDGE OF THE ARRAY/SUBARRAY, ACCORDING TO RAIL
MANUFACTURER’S INSTRUCTIONS.
2. JUNCTION BOX WILL BE INSTALLED PER MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFICATIONS. IF ROOF-PENETRATING TYPE, IT
SHALL BE FLASHED & SEALED PER LOCAL REQUIREMENTS.
3. ROOFTOP PENETRATIONS FOR PV RACEWAY WILL BE COMPLETED AND SEALED WITH APPROVED CHEMICAL
SEALANT PER CODE BY A LICENSED CONTRACTOR.
4. ALL PV RELATED ROOF ATTACHMENTS TO BE SPACED NO GREATER THAN THE SPAN DISTANCE SPECIFIED BY
THE RACKING MANUFACTURER.
5. WHEN POSSIBLE, ALL PV RELATED RACKING ATTACHMENTS WILL BE STAGGERED AMONGST THE ROOF
FRAMING MEMBERS.
WIRING & CONDUIT NOTES:
1. ALL CONDUIT AND WIRE WILL BE LISTED AND APPROVED FOR THEIR PURPOSE. CONDUIT AND WIRE

5. EACH MODULE WILL BE GROUNDED USING WEEB GROUNDING CLIPS AS SHOWN IN MANUFACTURER

BE INSTALLED AT THE SPECIFIED GROUNDING LUG HOLES PER THE MANUFACTURERS' INSTALLATION

6. THE GROUNDING CONNECTION TO A MODULE SHALL BE ARRANGED SUCH THAT THE REMOVAL OF A MODULE
DOES NOT INTERRUPT A GROUNDING CONDUCTOR TO ANOTHER MODULE.

Micro-Inverter
The information in this guideline is intended to help local jurisdictions and contractors identify when PV system installations
are simple, needing only a basic review, and when an installation is more complex. It is likely that 50%-75% of all residential
systems will comply with these simple criteria. For projects that fail to meet the simple criteria, resolution steps have been
suggested to provide as a path to permit approval.
Required Information for Permit:
1. Site plan showing location of major components on the property. This drawing need not be exactly to scale, but it
should represent relative location of components at site (see supplied example site plan). PV arrays on dwellings
with a 3 perimeter space at ridge and sides may not need separate fire service review.
2. Electrical diagram showing PV array configuration, wiring system, overcurrent protection, inverter, disconnects,
required signs, and ac connection to building (see supplied standard electrical diagram).
3. Specification sheets and installation manuals (if available) for all manufactured components including, but not
limited to, PV modules, inverter(s), combiner box, disconnects, and mounting system.

Step 2: Electrical Review of PV System (Calculations for Electrical Diagram)
In order for a PV system to be considered for an expedited permit process, the following must apply:
1. PV modules, utility-interactive inverters, and combiner boxes are identified for use in PV systems.
2. The PV array is composed of 4 series strings or less per inverter.
3. The total inverter capacity has a continuous ac power output 13,440 Watts or less
4. The ac interconnection point is on the load side of service disconnecting means (690.64(B)).
5. One of the standard electrical diagrams (E1.1, E1.1a, E1.1b, or E1.1c) can be used to accurately represent the PV
system. Interactive PDF diagrams are available at www.solarabcs.org/permitting.
Fill out the standard electrical diagram completely. A guide to the electrical diagram is provided to help the applicant
understand each blank to fill in. If the electrical system is more complex than the standard electrical diagram can effectively
communicate, provide an alternative diagram with appropriate detail.

sign the certification section below. A copy of this form shall be attached to each of TWO sets of plans, of
minimum 11 x 17 size. If answering NO to any of the questions, plan check shall be required.

per Section 605.11 of the California Fire Code, and is this shown on the roof plan?
