MICRO-INVERTER
The Solar America Board ior Codes and Standards (Solar ABCs) Expedired Permit Pro-
cess provides a means to differenriate systems that can be permirted quickly and easily
due to their similarity with the majoriry o[ small-scale PV sysrems. Those sysrems wirh
unique characteristics may be handled wirh small addirions ro rhis Expedired Permir
Process or may require much more information. depending on the uniqueness oF the
installation.
The following pages contain forms for the Micro-lnverrer ro use wirh the Expedited Per-
mir Process. The Standard String. AC Module, and Supply-Side Connecrion torms
are also available as inreractive PDF files ar rvrvrvsolarabcs.org/permirting In jurisdic-
rions that have adopred rhe Expedired Permit Process For PV Sysrems, rhese forms can
be filled out electronically and submitred in eirher prinred form and via email. An elec-
rronic format is used so rhat rhe supplied in[ormarion ,s srandardized and legible for rhe
local jurisdiction.

EXPEDITED I'ERMIT IROCESS FOR SMALL-SCALE I'V SYSTEMS
MICRO-INVERTER
The informarion in rhis guideline is intended to help local ju risdicrions and conrracrors idenrify when PV sysrem insrallations
are simple. needing only a basic review and when an installation is more complex. It is likely that 50%-75% of all residential
sysrems will comply wirh these simple criteria. For projects that lail to meet the simple crireria, resolution steps have been
suggesred to provide as a path to permit approval.
Required lnformation for Permit:
l. Site plan showing location of major components on the property. This drawing need not be exactly to scale, but ir
should represent relative location of components at site (see supplied example site plan). PV arrays on dwellings
with a S perimeter space at ridge and sides may not need separate hre service review.
2. Elecrrical diagram showing PV array conhgurarion, wiring system, overcurrenr prorecrion, inverrer, disconnects,
required signs. and ac connection to building (see supplied standard electrical diagram).
3. Specincarion sheets and installation manuals (if available) for all manufactured components including, but not
limited to, PV modules, inverrer(s), combiner box, disconnects, and mounting system

In order for a PV system to be considered for an expedited permit process, the following must apply:
L PV modules, utility-interactive inverters. and combiner boxes are identihed for use in PV sysrems
2. The PV array is composed of 4 series strings or less per inverter.
3. The total inverrer capacity has a continuous ac power oulput 1f,440 Watts or less
4 The ac interconnection point is on the load side of service disconnecting means (690.64(B)).
5. One of rhe standard electrical diagrams (El.l, El la,El.lb.orEl.lc) can be used to accurately represenr the PV
sysrem lnreracrive PDF diagrams are available at lvwlvsolarabcs.org/permitting
Fill out the standard electrical diagntm cornpletell'. A guide to the electrical didgram is proyided to help rhe applicant
understand edch blank tojll in. U the elecffical system is more complcx than lhe stqndard electical diagrdm con elJecriyeU,
communicate, provide an alternative dictgram vith appropriate detail.
