STANDARD STRINC SYSTEI"I
The information in rhis guideline is intended to help local jurisdicrions and conrracrcrs identify when PV sysrem insrallarions
are simple. needing only a basic review, and when an insEllarion is more complex. lt is likely rhat 50%.75% of all residenrial
systems will comply with these simple crireria. For projecrs rhat fail to meet !he simple criteria. resolurion steps have been
suggesred ro provide as a parh (o permir approval
Required InJormation Jor Pennit:
l. Site plan showing locarion of major components on rhe property. This drawing need not be exacdy ro scale, bur it
should represent relat,ve location of componenrs ar site (see supplied example sire plan). PV arrays on dwellings
wirh a 5 perimeter space at ridge and sides may not need separate fire service review.
2. ElecLrical diagram showing Pv array connguration. wiring system. overcurrent protection, inverrc( disconnects,
required signs. and ac connecrion ro building (see supplied srandard elecrrical diagram).
5. Specihcation sheets and installation manuals (iF available) For all manufactured components including, but not
limited to, Pv modules, inverter(s), combiner box. disconnecrs. and mounring system.

Step 2: Electrical Revlew o[ PV System (Calculations for Electrical Dlagram)
tn order for a PV slErem to b€ consider€d for an €xp€dited p€rmit process, the followinE must apply:
I PV modules, utiliry-interactive inveners. and combiner boxes are identihed For use in PV systems.
2. The PV array is composed of 4 series strings or less per invener.
f. The total inverter capacity has a conlinuous ac power ourpur 11,440 watrs or less
4. The ac inrerconnecrion poinr is on fie load side of service disconnecring means (690.64(8)).
5. One of the standard elecrrical diagrams(El.l. El.la. El.lb,orEl lc) can be used to accurately represenr rhe PV
system. Interacrive PDF diagrams are available at wwwsolarabcs org/permitring.
Fill out the standard electrical diagrum completely A guide to the electrical diogram is provided to help the applicant
understand each blanh to lll in lf the electical systeTn is more complex than the standatd electrical diagrum can efrectivety
communicate, provide an alternative diagram with appropiate detail
