Per CBC section 1206.3.2 Air intake. Courts more than tlvo stories in height shall be providetl
rvith a horizontal air intake at the bottonl not less than l0 square feet in area and LEADIN(l
to the exterior of the building unless abutting a yard or public way.
For courtyards 5 & 6 in lieu of having the horizontal air intake at the bottom not less than
l0 square feet leading from the exterior of the building both courtvards are mechanically
ventilated at the podium level. Both courtyards have approximately 250 cfr.n of air flow which
supply make-up air to the corridor ventilation systems thru the oPen passagewavs. The
corridor ventilation systems are designed to operate 24/7, therefore, the courtvards will ltavc
continuous air nlovelnent, rvhich rve believe satisfy's the intent of the code.
