The building is a one-story steel and wood framed structure which appears to have been built in 2000. The roof framing consists of 2x4 wood purlins spanning 8 ft to open web steel joists, which in turn are supported by open web steel girders. The building has a 4-ply built up roofing supported by ½-inch OSB sheathing deck. Acros has determined that the existing roof is feasible for added solar PV arrays up to the following limit: PV Reserve Capacity = 9 psf For total PV system weight limit, concentrated point load capacity, and attachment strengths refer to the body of this report. The selected racking manufacturer is to design the system within the limitations prescribed in this report. Acros found the roof framing members to have adequate capacity to support the listed loads. The PV reserve capacity for this roof is given with the understanding that low profile solar panels with a maximum height of 24 inches, and live load is taken as zero. Moreover, per 2022 California Existing Building Code section 503.3, an existing structure shall be replaced or altered as needed only if an alteration causes an increase in total design loads of more than 5 percent. Therefore, based on Acros’ analysis, the existing roof at CPT Harbor Ana building located at 2721 S Harbor Blvd, Santa Ana, CA, 92704, is feasible for added solar PV arrays up to 9 psf. 4. Approved PV system Installation Zone The green shaded area below has a reserve capacity of 9 psf. No solar PV arrays should be placed on the red marked areas. The roof areas subject to ponding, if any, are highlighted with red in the plan below. The additional load due to ponding is calculated in accordance with IBC Section 1611. It is critical to inspect and maintain the primary and secondary roof drainage systems to ensure proper operation at all times. Acros visited the site on 12/04/2023 and documented the roof framing members, which were analyzed, and their design checked against the listed loads. Acros found the roof framing members to have adequate capacity to support the listed loads. The PV reserve capacity for this roof is given with the understanding that low profile solar panels with a maximum height of 24 inches, and live load is taken as zero. Moreover, per 2022 California Existing Building Code section 503.3, an existing structure shall be replaced or altered as needed only if an alteration causes an increase in total design loads of more than 5 percent. Therefore, based on Acros’ analysis, the existing roof at CPT Harbor Ana building located at 2721 S Harbor Blvd, Santa Ana, CA, 92704, is feasible for added solar PV arrays up to 9 psf. 4. Approved PV system Installation Zone The green shaded area below has a reserve capacity of 9 psf. No solar PV arrays should be placed on the red marked areas. The roof areas subject to ponding, if any, are highlighted with red in the plan below. The additional load due to ponding is calculated in accordance with IBC Section 1611. It is critical to inspect and maintain the primary and secondary roof drainage systems to ensure proper operation at all times.
