The substitution of the 6x14 DF drop ped ridge beam for the 5 1/4 x 16 PSL beam is adequate and meets the code
minimum total load deflection requirement of L/240 which is 1.05". The calculated total load deflection for the
6x14 beam is 0.84". Whilethe PSLbeam remains our recommendation in orderto minimize any future potential
sagging, the 6x14 DF beam is an adequate option for the homeowner, and the howeowner is aware of the possible
deflection issues in the future
