1. CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY ALL DIMENSIONS AND CONDITIONS IN

ELEMENTS OF WORKING DRAWINGS AND/OR SPECIFICATIONS WHICH
MAY REQUIRE CLARIFICATION OR ADDITIONAL DETAILS SHALL BE
BROUGHT TO THE IMMEDIATE ATTENTION OF THE ENGINEER IN
WRITING BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH ANY WORK SO INVOLVED. IF
THE CONTRACTOR PROCEEDS TO COMPLETE THE WORK ON HIS
OWN, HE SHALL ASSUME FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR SUCH WORK.

4. THESE PLANS HAVE BEEN PREPARED SPECIFICALLY FOR THE
WORK SHOWN ON THEM. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
ALL TEMPORARY SHORING AND BRACING SYSTEMS REQUIRED TO
PERFORM THE WORK ON THESE PLANS AND OBTAIN STRUCTURAL
CALCULATIONS FOR THESE BRACING OR SHORING SYSTEMS BY A
LICENSED ENGINEER.
5. ALL NEW WORK FOR THIS BUILDING SHALL COMPLY WITH THE 2001
C.B.C.
FIRE DAMAGE REPAIR:
1. CHARRED LUMBER SHALL BE REMOVED AND REPLACED EXCEPT
WHERE SPECIFIED TO REMAIN IN PLACE. IF SPECIFIED TO REMAIN IN
PLACE IT SHALL BE SCRAPED OR LIGHTLY SAND BLASTED TO CLEAN
FREE OF CHAR AND DEODORIZED.
Z AFTER THE CHARRED AREA IS CLEANED AND MEMBERS EXPOSED.
IF ANY DAMAGE NOT NOTED ON THESE PLANS IS FOUND, IT SHALL BE
CALLED TO THE ATTENTION OF THE ENGINEER.
3. HORIZONTAL JOISTS WHERE CHAR EXISTS MUST BE PROPERLY
REPLACED (OR STRENGTHENED BY ADDING SISTER MEMBERS NEXT
TO THE EXISTING JOIST ONLY IF STATED ON PLANS.)
4. ALL FIXTURES AND FINISHES MUST BE PROPERLY RESTORED TO
PRE -FIRE CONDITION. DEODORIZATION OF ALL REMAINING
MATERIALS IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR.
DEODORIZATION SHALL INCORPORATE ALL PROPRIETARY AND
STANDARD METHODS REQUIRED TO COMPLETELY REMOVE ALL
ODORS LEFT BY FIRE.

2. INSTALLATION SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHAPTER NO. 25

PAINTING
1. MATERIALS: OF STANDARD MANUFACTURE, DELIVERED TO THE JOB
SITE IN UNOPENED CONTAINERS.
2. COLORS TO BE SELECTED BY THE OWNER.
3. AFTER COMPLETION, REMOVE PAINT SPOTS FROM FLOORS; REMOVE
PAINT CANS, CONTAINERS AND ALL RUBBISH FROM THE SITE.
EXTERIOR PLASTER:
1. EXTERIOR PLASTER SHALL CONFORM TO CHAPTER 2592001 C.B.C..
2. PLASTERING WITH CEMENT PLASTER SHALL NOT BE LESS THAN
THREE COATS WHEN APPLIED OVER METAL LATH OR WIRE FABRIC
LATH AND SHALL NOT BE LESS THAN TWO COATS WHEN APPLIED
OVER MASONRY, CONCRETE OR GYPSUM BACKING AS SPECIFIED IN
SECTION 2506.3.
3. IF PLASTER SURFACE IS COMPLETELY CONCEALED BY ANOTHER
WALL, PLASTER APPLICATION NEED BE ONLY TWO COATS, PROVIDED
THE TOTAL THICKNESS 1S AS SET FORTH IN TABLE 25-F.
ON WOOD -FRAME OR METAL STUD CONSTRUCTION WITH AN
ON -GRADE CONCRETE FLOOR SLAB SYSTEM, EXTERIOR PLASTER
SHALL BE APPLIED IN SUCH A MANNER AS TO COVER, BUT NOT
EXTEND BELOW, LATH AND PAPER. SEE SECTION 2506.5 FOR THE
APPLICATION OF PAPER AND LATH, AND FLASHING OR WEEP
SCREEDS.
4. ONLY APPROVED PLASTICITY AGENTS AND APPROVED AMOUNTS
THEREOF MAY BE ADDED TO PORTLAND CEMENT. WHEN PLASTIC
CEMENT IS USED, NO ADDITIONAL LIME OR PLASTICIZERS SHALL BE
ADDED. HYDRATED LIME OR THE EQUIVALENT AMOUNT OF LIME
PUTTY USED AS A PLASTICIZER MAY BE ADDED TO CEMENT PLASTER
OR CEMENT AND LIME PLASTER IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED THAT
SET FORTH IN TABLE 25-F.
5. GYPSUM PLASTER SHALL NOT BE USED ON EXTERIOR SURFACES.
SEE SECTION 224. THE APPLICATION OF THE 3 COATS SHALL BE IN
CONFORMANCE WITH 2O01 C.B.C. SECTION 2508.
6. MASONRY AND CONCRETE SURFACES SHALL BE CLEAN, FREE
FROM EFFLORESCENCE, SUFFICIENTLY DAMP AND ROUGH TO
ENSURE PROPER BOND.
7. IF SURFACE IS INSUFFICIENTLY ROUGH, APPROVED BONDING
AGENTS OR A PORTLAND CEMENT DASH BOND COAT MIXED IN
PROPORTIONS OF ONE AND ONE HALF PARTS VOLUME OF SAND TO
ONE PART VOLUME OF PORTLAND CEMENT OR PLASTIC CEMENT
SHALL BE APPLIED. THE DASH BOND COAT SHALL BE LEFT
UNDISTURBED AND SHALL BE MOIST CURED NOT LESS THAN 24
HOURS. WHEN DASH BOND IS APPLIED, FIRST COAT OF BASE COAT
PLASTER MAY BE OMITTED. SEE TABLE_ 25-D FOR THICKNESS.

PERPENDICULAR TO SUPPORTS EXCEPT WHERE NOTED OTHERWISE
ON DRAWINGS.
5. ALL DIAPHRAGM AND SHEAR WALL NAILING SHALL BE APPROVED
BY THE INSPECTOR PRIOR TO COVERING WITH ROOF, FLOOR OR
WALL COVERING.
6. SOLID BLOCKING OR BRIDGING SHALL BE PROVIDED AT 8'-0" ON
CENTER MAXIMUM FOR FLOOR AND ROOF FRAMING. SOLID
BLOCKING SHALL BE PLACED BETWEEN JOISTS OR RAFTERS AT ALL
SUPPORTS.
7. STANDARD CUT WASHERS SHALL BE USED FOR ALL BOLTS IN
TIMBER. BOLT HOLES IN WOOD SHALL BE 1I16 INCH OVERSIZE.
8. IN STUD WALLS, 21NCH THICK FIRE -BLOCKING SHALL BE
PROVIDED AT 10 FEET ON CENTER BOTH VERTICALLY AND
HORIZONTALLY AND AT OTHER CONCEALED SPACES AND
INTERSECTIONS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE 2001 C.B.C., SECTION
708. WHERE STUD WALLS OR CEILINGS HAVE A MINIMUM SPECIFIED
SOUND RATING ALL FIRE -BLOCKING OR DRAFT STOPS WITHIN THEM
OR AT THEIR INTERSECTIONS SHALL BE MADE USING ONE OF THE
OTHER APPROVED FIRE -BLOCKING MATERIALS SPECIFIED IN
SECTION 708 OF THE 2001 C.B.C. THAT DO NOT TRANSMIT SOUND.
SEE THE ARCHITECTURAL PLANS WHEREVER SOUND WALL
CONSTRUCTION IS SPECIFIED.
9. SILL PLATES RESTING ON CONCRETE OR MASONRY WHICH ARE
WITHIN 48 INCHES OF GRADE SHALL BE PRESSURE TREATED. SILL
WIDTH SHALL BE NO LESS THAN THE WIDTH OF THE STUDS AND
SHALL BE FASTENED TO THE FOUNDATION WITH 1I2 INCH DIAMETER
ANCHOR BOLTS AT 48 INCHES ON CENTER EXCEPT WHERE NOTED
OTHERWISE ON THE STRUCTURAL PLANS AND WITHIN 12" OF ENDS.
10. ALL BOLTS SHALL BE TIGHTENED PRIOR TO NAILING OF WALL
SHEATHING, STEEL SHIM PLATES SHALL BE ADDED BENEATH BEAMS
AND HEADERS AT SUPPORTS WHERE SHRINKAGE HAS OCCURRED.
11. ALL NAILS SHALL BE COMMON WIRE UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE.
12. ALL NAILED FASTENINGS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
STANDARD NAILING SCHEDULE TABLE NUMBER 23-11-B-1 PER THE 2001
C.B.C. UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE ON THE PLANS.
13. PRE -FABRICATED LIGHT GAUGE STEEL WOOD CONNECTORS
SHALL BE "SIMPSON" STRONG -TIE CONNECTORS OF THE TYPE
SPECIFIED IN THESE PLANS AND DETAILS. NO OTHER WOOD
CONNECTORS SHALL BE USED UNLESS APPROVED BY THE
ENGINEER OF RECORD. ALL CONNECTORS SHALL BE INSTALLED IN
STRICT CONFORMANCE WITH THESE PLANS AND "SIMPSON"
SPECIFICATIONS AND ALL APPLICABLE I.C.B.O. REPORTS.
WHEREVER A SPECIFIC SIZE N L AND NUMBER OF FASTENERS HAVE
BEEN INDICATED IN THESE PLANS THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
STRICTLY FOLLOW THE PLANS OVER THE SPECIFICATIONS LISTED
IN THE "SIMPSON" STRONG -TIE CATALOG. WHEREVER A SPECIFIC
SIZE AND NUMBER OF FASTENERS HAVE NOT BEEN INDICATED IN
THESE PLANS THE MAXIMUM NUMBER AND SIZE OF FASTENER
SPECIFIED IN THE "SIMPSON" STRONG -TIE CATALOG SHALL BE
USED. IF THE CONTRACTOR DOES NOT HAVE CURRENT "SIMPSON"
CATALOGS, ICBO APPROVALS, OR INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS,

STEEL CONSTRUCTION AND THE CODE OF STANDARD PRACTICE.
ALL STRUCTURAL STEEL SHAPES AND PLATES SHALL CONFORM TO
ASTM A36 SPECIFICATIONS U.N.O..
2. BOLTS FOR STRUCTURAL STEEL CONNECTIONS SHALL BE
FABRICATED FROM ASTM A307 STEEL AND COME COMPLETE WITH
HEAVY HEX HEAD, HEAVY HEX NUT AND STANDARD WASHERS. NO
THREAD BEARING ALLOWED EXCEPT WHERE SPECIFIED ON THE
PLANS.
3. ALL PIPE SHALL CONFORM TO ASTM A53 GRADE B SPECIFICATION
4. ALL STRUCTURAL TUBE SHALL CONFORM TO ASTM A500 GRADE B
SPECIFICATION (FY = 46,000 PSI).
5. ALL WELDING SHALL BE DONE BY CERTIFIED WELDERS IN AN
APPROVED FABRICATION SHOP. ALL FIELD WELDING REQUIRES
CONTINUOUS INSPECTION BY A REGISTERED DEPUTY INSPECTOR.
6. WELDING SHALL BE DONE WITH THE SHIELDED METAL ARC
WELDING PROCESS USING E-70XX ELECTRODES, LOW HYDROGEN
ELECTRODES. ELECTRODES SHALL POSSESS A MINIMUM CHARPY
V-NOTCH TOUGHNESS OF (20 FT-LBS AT ZERO DEGREES (0 °)F)
FAHRENHEIT). THE MAXIMUM ELECTRODE DIAMETER SHALL. BE
0.120". THE PRE -HEAT AND INTERPASS PROCEDURES SPECIFIED IN
THE ALSC MANUAL 9th EDITION AND THOSE SPECIFIED IN AWS D1.1
SHALL BE STRICTLY FOLLOWED. THE HIGHER PRE -HEAT AND
INTERPASS TEMPERATURES OF THE TWO SHOULD BE USED.
NO HOLES OTHER THAN THOSE SPECIFICALLY DETAILED SHALL.. BE
ALLOWED THROUGH STRUCTURAL STEEL MEMBERS. NO CUTTING OR
BURNING OF STEEL WILL BE PERMITTED.
7. ALL STRUCTURAL STEEL SHALL BE SHOP PAINTED WITH A RUST
INHIBITIVE PAINT. FIELD TOUCH UP ALL BLEMISHES.
