Santa Ana Municipal Code (SAMC) Section 41-626 requires underground utility installations. An
exception to SAMC Section 41-626 allows electrical service changeouts for existing single-family and
two-family residential structures to be a combination type box with provisions for overhead and
underground feeds.
New electric meter enclosures shall be a combination type With provisions for overhead and underground
feeds.
Illustration Notes:
1. After the new meter location has been approved by Edison, service may provided by
an overhead powerline.
2. The pull box must have provisions for future underground feed. Semi -flush and flush enclosures shall
have 2 1/2" diameter conduit stub for future service installed clear of concrete footing.
