Some of the finished product, made in the lab by mixing paint and colors customers. The lab also creates the colors needed to support all of the Behr color mai Once colors have been created by the Color Lab and approved by Behr Marketing, the multiple sets of precise duplicates of the selected colors. These duplicate sets are the for these colors. The color standards are stored in the Color Lab freezers for use by th vendor that must match the colors and produce the color cards that are distributed to ri In the process of making sample colors of paint, members of the laboratory staff mix w colorant with finished paint, utilizing paint can shakers. The tinted paint is applied to a dried and tested for color match using precise instrumentation. Color Lab Staff: The Behr Color Lab is made up of a staff of 20 Behr employees and three to five temp( working on a single, shift, five days per week. Color Standards* The Behr Color Lab works with the Behr Marketing Department to create the colors ne, all of the Behr color marketing projects, Color Formulations/Storage: The Color Lab stores the color formulas that are tinted retail stores. The database con 120,000 color formulas. Color Lab Material Handling, Use and Storage: The Color Lab uses two main materials: untinted paint and colorant. Untinted paint is I gallon or five -gallon finished good containers. These containers are delivered on palle receiving docks. This paint is moved directly to the Lab or stored just outside the lab (i warehouse) until processed. Colorant (water -based) is received in five -gallon contairif poured in smaller quantities into colorant dispensers in the lab. Colorant is also delivei individual cans at the receiving docks and delivered to the colorant dispensing station. After adding colorant to the untinted paint, colored/tinted paint is shaken in a paint can shaking, the paint is analyzed for color accuracy and ready for use.
