All items noted on this plan check report must be addressed. If you feel that an item is not applicable to your project, note “N/A” and discuss the reason with the plan checker.Please indicate the sheet number and detail to the right of each correction, or note the number on the plans where the correction is made. Resubmit marked original, calculations and this correction sheet. A separate sheet for response may be used.Resubmit corrected sets of plans.Meetings between the project applicant/designer and the plan reviewer shall be by appointment only. - Planning Division approval on the corrected/final set of drawings (647-5804.) Previously approved plans
should be submitted to expedite the process.
- Fire Department approval on the corrected/final sets of drawings (647-5839 or 647-5700)
- Police Department approval on the corrected/final set of drawings (647-5840)
- Public Works Agency approval (647-5039)
- Proof of Worker’s Compensation Insurance shall be required at the time of permit issuancePlease note type of construction on drawing as Type II-B based on the 2007 California Building Code Chapters 5 and 6.CBC Section 1133B.2.5, Note on the drawings: “Maximum effort to operate doors shall not exceed 5 pounds for exterior doors and interior doors, such pull or push effort being applied at right angles to hinged doors and at the center place of sliding or folding doors. Compensating devices or automatic door operators may be utilized to meet the above standards. CBC Section 1133B.2.6, Required the bottom 10” of all doors except automatic and sliding shall have a smooth uninterrupted surface to allow the door to be opened by a wheelchair footrest without creating a trap or hazardous condition.Provide completely dimensioned floor plans, elevations and sections of sanitary facility insuring wheelchair clearances complying with CBC Section 1115B and the California Plumbing Code.Refer to the attached sanitation facility handout for additional plan check comments. Revise plans to show compliance.
Where walls and ceilings are required by any provision in this code to be fire resistance-rated or noncombustible construction, the interior finish material shall be applied directly against such construction or to furring strips not exceeding 1.75 inches applied directly against such surfaces. The intervening spaces between such furring strip shall be filled with inorganic or Class A material or shall be fire blocked at a maximum of 8 feet in any direction in accordance with Section 717 of CBC. Section 803.4.1 of CBC. Please note the tenant walls 1 Hour fire rated. All fire blockings to be fire retardant.
Revised drawings to show all wall assembly including any cabinets that are permanently attached to walls or ceilings are fire retardant. Please refer to drawings for red marks on the drawings.
Provide material specification for “MDF” board. Flame spread rating of 0-25, Class A is required. Revise drawings to show drywall before insulation of MDF boards in lieu of compliance with Section 803.4.1 of CBC. (Plan check comment # 13)CBC Section 402.12, Security grilles and doors. Horizontal sliding or vertical security grilles or doors, which are part of a required means of egress, shall conform to the following: (If applicable)
- They must remain secured in the full open position during the period of occupancy by the general public.
- Doors or grilles shall not be brought to the closed position when there are more than 10 persons occupying
spaces served by a single exit or 50 persons occupying spaces served by more than one exit.
- The doors or grilles shall be openable from within without the use of any special knowledge or effort when the
space is occupied.
- When two or more exits are required, not more than one half of the exits may be equipped with horizontal
sliding or vertical rolling grilles or doors.
- Note on Drawings: Post a legible sign at security grill/door closing controls stating “Security grill/door shall

SLIDEBOLTSTO EMBED AMINIMUM OF ½” INTO THE RECEIVING GUIDE.CURTAIN GRILLES ARE NOT TO BE UTILIZED.FIRE DEPARTMENT REQUIRED EMERGENCY RELEASE MUST BE LOCATED NO MORE THAN 40” FROM THE EXTERIOR SIDE OF THE GRILLE.THE LOCKING MECHANISM’S INTERIOR THUMBTURN MUST BE SHIELDED BY AN INTERIOR HOOD TO PREVENT ITS MANIPULATION FROM THE EXTERIOR SIDE OF THEGRILLE.
