1013.4 Opening limitations. Required guards shall not have openings which allow passage of a sphere 4 inches in diameter from the walking surface to the required guard height.Sheet A1.2 – Detail 3: Revise the guard rail minimum height to 42 inches above floor.
1013.3 Height. Required guards shall not be less than 42 inches high, measured vertically as follows:
1. From the adjacent walking surfaces;
2. On stairs, from the line connecting the leading edges of the tread nosings; and3. On ramps, from the ramp surface at the guard.Sheet A1.2 – Detail 3: Specify steel plate size and thickness between the guard rail and rim joist.Sheet A1.2 – Detail 3: Specify bolt spacing, minimum edge distance to steel plate at guard rail to rim joist connection.Sheet A1.2 – Detail 6: Specify the intended use on the second floor (loft, bonus room…etc)Sheet A1.2 – Detail 7: If the bottom edges of glazing are within 60 inches above the floor, glazing are required to be tempered.
2406.4.6 Glazing adjacent to stairs and ramps. Glazing where the bottom exposed edge of the glazing is less than 60 inches above the plane of the adjacent walking surface of stairways, landings between flights of stairs, and ramps shall be considered a hazardous location.Sheet A1.2 – Detail 8: Revise guard rail height to 42 inches minimum.
