Where the path of exit access includes unenclosed stairways or ramps within the exit access or includes unenclosed exit ramps or stairways as permitted in Section 1020.1, the distance of travel on such means of egress components shall also be included in the travel distance measurement. The measurement along stairways shall be made on a plane parallel and tangent to the stair tread nosing in the center of the stairway..CBC Section 1008.1.2, Revolving, sliding, and overhead doors serving an occupant load of more than 10 shall not be used as required exits. ( revolving doors as shown on electric plans cannot be used in front of the exit path.Exit illumination and exit sign requirements in accordance with CBC Section 1011 shall be shown on the drawings. Be specific as to the type of exit signs to be installed.CBC Section 1011.1. Provide a directional exit sign at changes in exiting direction.CBC Section 1006, Requires means of egress from all occupied parts of the building be provided with at least 1’ candle of light at floor level. Show compliance on the drawings.Tactile exit signs shall be required at the following locations:
- Each grade-level exterior exit door shall be identified by a tactile exit with the word “EXIT.”
- Each exit door that leads directly to a grade-level exterior exit by means of a stairway or ramp shall be
identified by a tactile exit sign with the following words as appropriate:“EXIT STAIR DOWN”“EXIT RAMP DOWN”“EXIT STAIR UP”“EXIT RAMP UP”
- Each exit door that leads directly to a grade-level exterior exit by means of an exit enclosure, or an exit
passageway, shall be identified by a tactile exit sign with the words “EXIT ROUTE.”
- Each exit access door from an interior room or area to a corridor or hallway, which is required to have a visual
exit sign, shall be identified by a tactile exit sign with the words “EXIT ROUTE.”
- Each exit door through a horizontal exit shall be identified by a sign with the words “TO EXIT.”Plumbing facilities shall be provided in accordance with the California Plumbing Code (CPC) Section 412.0 and CPC Table 4-1.CBC Sections 1115B and 1210. Sanitation facility toilet room floors shall have a smooth, hard, non-absorbent surface such as Portland cement, concrete, ceramic tile or other approved material which extends upward onto the walls at least 6”. Walls within 2’ of the front and sides of urinals and water closets shall be similarly finished to a height of 4’.
One of the stairs seems to be going one more flight above the second floor is it going to the roof or does it serve another floor?
Interior exit stairways must lead to the exterior of the building.
Provide an exit analysis showing the occupant load in each space and at each stair, please verify adequacy of the stairs and the width of the exits. Please note that there are many new assembly areas.
Sheet A02.201N upper left hand corner, what is the occupant load of that area? If greater than 500 access to two exits will be required.
Sheet A02.201S Can’t have a corridor going through a work area. A discernable path should be provide to an exit.
Classroom 1522 second exit is going through a corridor going through a work area same comment as the one above.
Dimension the length of all dead end corridors.
Dimension and show travel distances from the second and first floor. Please note that the travel distance is measured along an interior stair to an exit.
The discernable path applies to the area shaded too.
Identify on floor plans which exit door will have a card reader and will not be openable from the inside without the use of a key or special effort.
Provide an elevation that shows the full height of the ceilings at both levels.
Provide draft stop in all concealed ceilings where there is combustible construction. It appears both the floor framing and the roof framing are of combustible construction.
Provide the five-foot diameter circle in the multi stall bathrooms.
Provide plumbing fixture calcs on the plans.
Dimension the water closet per section 11B-604, show door encroachments per the details provide in 11B-604.
Provide a section of the counter with the sinks in the bathrooms showing knee space elevation.
Provide details and dimensions of the grab bars behind the toilet fixtures.
Bathrooms for ambulatory patients required if more than five compartments.
Show site accessibility, site accessibility should be provided from the public way, public transportation, and accessible parking.
Provide an enlarged site plan that shows the location of truncated domes whenever required.
Provide notes and details to show the proposed showers comply with the accessibility requirements.
