Please remove MEP “Drawing index” information. The applicant shall obtain clearances/approvals for the following prior to building permit issuance:
- Planning Division approval on the corrected/final set of drawings (714-647-5804.) Previously approved plans
should be submitted to expedite the process.
- Police Department approval on the corrected/final set of drawings (714-647-5840)
- Public Works Agency approval (647-5039)- Fire Department approval on the corrected/final sets of drawings (714-573-6126) Proof of Worker’s Compensation Insurance shall be required at the time of permit issuanceAll drawings (all Sheets) and supporting documents shall be prepared, stamped and signed by a California licensed architect or registered civil engineer.Please delete details/ notes that are not applicable to this project. Reference Sheet A-0.5; Indicate 24 for wheel stop at accessible parking and revise path of travel with existing ramp to clarify location of truncated dome and handrail extension for ramp when blocking the accessible landing at parking.Reference Sheet A-0.7; remove pictogram from door signage and circle, triangle or combination to remain with contrasting color with door. Also provide dimensions for existing toilet room including 44” minimum for accessible route within toilet rooms.Show compliance with Communication Elements and Features. CBC Section 11B-602 (both high and low) and California Plumbing Code Table 422.1.It is the project designer’s/property owner’s responsibility to show compliance on the drawings with all applicable Federal and State Accessibility Standards. City of Santa Ana does not have jurisdiction to enforce ADA compliance and it is the responsibility of designer. Please remove notes referring to ADA compliance. This project is reviewed for compliance with 2016 CBC.Provide dimensioned floor plan of existing toilet rooms showing compliance with Sections 11B-603,11B- 604,11B- 605 and 11B-606 of, 2016 CBC. Tactile exit signs shall be required at the following locations, and show location of each applicable sign on the drawings:
- Each grade-level exterior exit door shall be identified by a tactile exit with the word “EXIT.”
- Each exit door that leads directly to a grade-level exterior exit by means of a stairway or ramp shall be
identified by a tactile exit sign with the following words as appropriate:“EXIT STAIR DOWN”“EXIT RAMP DOWN”“EXIT STAIR UP”“EXIT RAMP UP”
- Each exit door that leads directly to a grade-level exterior exit by means of an exit enclosure, or an exit
passageway, shall be identified by a tactile exit sign with the words “EXIT ROUTE.”
- Each exit access door from an interior room or area to a corridor or hallway, which is required to have a visual
exit sign, shall be identified by a tactile exit sign with the words “EXIT ROUTE.”Show compliance with Communication Elements and Features. Posted signs shall be of an approved legible permanent design and shall be maintained by the owner or authorized agent. Show location of sign on the drawings. Show one-hour occupancy separation (vertical and horizontal) between B and A occupancy per Table 508.1, 2016 CBC. Please refer fire rated floor assembly ad wall assembly to Table 7 and item number and provided copy of fire rated assembly on the drawings. One hour rated door is required when part of occupancy separation wall. Show 44” minimum corridor width by rooms 47 and 418 where existing columns encroaches into required with of corridor.Show 60” length for proposed counter in Bookroom 401 for accessibility compliance with section 11B-804, CBC.Remove two counters (high and low) as shown on Sheet A-0.8 by stairway #2.Show wheel chair accessibility (60” circle or T shape for telephone room # 4023. Existing two stairway enclosures are required to connect two existing stairways with one hour rated corridor to maintain the stairway pressurization in compliance with Sections 403.5.4, 405.7.2, 909.6, 909.20.5 and 1022.10 of CBC. Revised drawings to show compliance. Show 180-degree door closure for storage room #436. Doors in fully open position shall not reduce the required corridor/exit way by more than 7”.Reference Sheet A9.2; specify wood in construction /providing connection to wall or floor for all cabinets to be fire retardant. Note type of safety glazing complying with CBC Section 2406 for hazardous locations listed under CBC Section 2406.3. Note type of safety glazing complying with CBC Section 2406 for glazing in fixed or operable panels adjacent to a door where the nearest exposed edge of the glazing is within a 24” arc of either vertical edge of the door in a closed position and where the bottom exposed edge of the glazing is less than 60” above the walking surface.Show/note ventilation requirements on the plans in accordance with the 2016 CBC and California Mechanical Code (CMC) requirements for each type of use.

Elevator lobby must have one exit connecting stairway. Show compliance on the drawings.
