Separate plans, applications, fees, plan checks, and permits are required for mechanical, plumbing, fire sprinkler systems, and electrical work. Call 647-5800 for information. The applicant shall obtain clearances/approvals for the following prior to building permit issuance: - Planning Division approval on the corrected/final set of drawings (647-5804.) Previously approved plans should be submitted to expedite the process. - Fire Department approval on the corrected/final sets of drawings ((714)573-6100) - Public Works Agency approval (647-5039)Provide a fully dimensioned site plan.Provide scope of work on the first page of the drawings. Indicate type, length and height of the storage racks to be installed.Provide a key plan showing the tenant space location where the storage racks to be installed within the existing building or floor.Show exit signs and emergency lighting location (identify new or existing) on plan.Provide information if the building is provided with fire sprinkler protection.CBC Section 1705.12.7, Storage racks and access floors. Periodic special inspection is required during the anchorage of access floors and storage racks 8’ or greater in height in structures assigned to Seismic Design Category D, E or F.Note on the drawings locations and inscriptions of 50 square inch minimum size permanent plaques installed in conspicuous locations, showing the maximum permissible unit load in clear, legible print.Lower portions of posts exposed to damage by forklift trucks or other moving equipment shall have protective devices. If not so protected, at the option of the building official, the rack structure may: (1) be designed to maintain its full design load capacity at allowable stresses with the exposed post capacity reduced by one-half or (2) be designed to maintain its full design load capacity at 50 percent increased allowable stresses with the exposed post assumed to have no carrying capacity.Sheet P01. Provide legend to identify new or existing storage racks on plan.Sheet P01. On the floor plan, specify the clearance between Rack B2 and the nearest exterior wall. Provide 5.12” minimum separation distance per structural calculation page 32.Sheet P01. On the floor plan, each row of racks has specify different number of 3” posts. For example, the lowest racks (B1+B2) has (11) 3” posts. Please explain what does that mean?Provide the height of the items stored. (Measured from the floor to the top of the commodities that are stored). Please show panel height on the braced elevations between horizontal brace member “C” on each type of rack.STRUCTURAL CALCULATIONOn rack design, see page 2 for example, please explain why design live load is zero? For design support for gravity load combination, live load should be included. (RMI2.1 Live load: Live load other than the pallets or products stored on the racks). Please review design for all racks.Support of racks by foundations, concrete floor slabs or other means shall be in conformance with CBC Chapter 18. The plan shows the racks are supported directly on the slab. Please justify if the slab and soils are capable to support the load from each post.
