Any room used that is used for an assembly purpose shall have the capacity of the room posted in a conspicuous place on an approved sign near the main exit or exit-access doorway. The origin point shall be at the remotest point from the parking space, not the middle of the driveway. The common path of travel cannot exceed 100 feet. Tactile floor designation signs that comply with Section 1143A or 11B, shall be located at each floor level landing in all enclosed stairways in buildings two or more stories in height to identify the floor level. At exit discharge level, the sign shall include a raised five-pointed star located to the left of the identifying floor level. See Figure 11A-7B, 7C and update the elevator details in compliance with Chapter 11A Section 1124A.Show compliance with Section 1009.4, in order to be considered part of an accessible means of egress, an elevator shall comply with the emergency operation and signaling device requirements of California Code of Regulations, Title 8, Division 1, Chapter 4, Subchapter 6, Elevator Safety Orders, Standby power shall be provided in accordance with Chapter 27 and Section 3003. CBC Section 707.14.1 and Chapter 30 CBC, Elevator Lobby. An enclosed elevator lobby shall be provided at each floor where an elevator shaft enclosure connects more than two stories in high-rise buildings, Group A, S-2, B, R-2 occupancies. The lobby shall separate the elevator shaft enclosure doors from each floor by fire partitions equal to the fire-resistance rating of the corridor and the required opening protection. Elevator lobbies shall have at least onemeans of egress complying with Chapter 10 and other provisions within this code.ACCESSIBILITYSite accessibilitySheet AG0.01. Clarify the accessible route from the public sidewalk to each building entrance door. Use different legend to show site egress route from each building exit to the public sidewalk. Provide accessible pedestrian sidewalk or walkway from public sidewalk to the building southwest entrance/exit doors (S06B1 and B113A). On sheet AG0.10, revise the accessible route from the vehicular way and show compliance design. On the large floor plan on sheet AG0.10. Sheet SN-1: Deferred Submittal – Please review and revise the applicable deferred submittal item for the permit application (parking garage structure). Sheet SN-1: Project Design Parameter – Vehicle barriers for passenger vehicles shall be designed to resist a concentrated load of 6,000 pounds in accordance with Section 4.5.3 of ASCE 7.On the plan, please provide detail to show the transition between the sloped ramp (ex. At gridline 3, 8, C, and E). Please provide details and computer model to show how the parking garage ramps are supported. Provide structural analysis and details to show seismic separation between the CMU/Concrete garage structure and the apartment building. Lateral Calculation: Please provide schematic plans showing/identify location of shear walls, and provide story forces and diaphragm loads diagrams for the garage structure. Provide calculation for center of mass for each floor level. Provide calculation for the center of rigidity and value of torsional rigidity (for each direction). The design shall include the inherent torsional moment in accordance with ASCE7-16 Section 12.8.2. The total shear in a wall shall be determined due to direct and torsional shear. Ramps and sloping diaphragms can create unique design challenges and issues. Please provide schematic plan and loading diagrams. Please consider all the following in the design. For seismic forces parallel to a ramp, it acts as strut between levels. For seismic forces perpendicular to a ramp, it acts as an inclined shear walls. In both cases, the forces distribution to vertical elements (vertical support) can be effected. Short columns can be formed at the end of a ramp, resulting in large shear forces that must be addressed. Ramps often create flexible, discontinued diaphragm conditions that need to be addresses. Please provide/show lateral resisting system at wall line A and line 1 (at the exterior column wall lines). Please keep in mind that the ramps (floor diaphragms) located on both sides of the shear walls do not occurred at the same elevation. The diaphragm span-to-depth rations shall not exceed 3. For structures assigned to Seismic Designed Category D, E, or F and having structural irregularities, the design forces determined from Section 12.10.1.1 shall be increased 25% for the following elements of the seismic force-resisting system: Connections of diaphragms to vertical elements and to collectors andCollectors and their connection, including connections to vertical elements, of the seismic force-resisting system. Beams and columns, walls bending out-of-plane, slab-column and slab-wall connections, and cladding attachments should be evaluated for displacement compatibility based up the additional displacement of the diaphragm. Sheet S1.11BS: wall line Y.1 and line U3: Horizontal structural irregularities Table 12.3-1, ASCE7-10: The lateral seismic force-resisting system shall be designed for nonparallel system-irregularity in according with 12.5 ASCE7-16. Loading applied to shear wall shall comply with Section 12.5.3 & 12.5.4 ASCE7-16. Revise calculation and plans accordingly.On the plan, please clearly identify collectors and chords locations, and provide details to show transfer of shear forces from diaphragm into the vertical elements (shear walls).
