If you feel that an item is not applicable to your project, note “N/A” and discuss the reason with the plan checker.Please indicate the sheet number and detail to the right of each correction, or note the number on the plans where the correction is made. Resubmit marked original, calculations and this correction sheet. A separate sheet for response may be used.Resubmit 3corrected sets of plans.The applicant shall obtain clearances/approvals for the following prior to building permit issuance: - Planning Division approval on the corrected/final set of drawings (647-5804.) Previously approved plans should be submitted to expedite the process. - Fire Department approval on the corrected/final sets of drawings ((714)573-6100) - Police Department approval on the corrected/final set of drawings (647-5840) - Public Works Agency approval (647-5039) - Grading Permit. Application is made through the Building Safety Division (647-5800) and the plan review is by the Public Works Agency (647-5039) - School District Compliance Certificate; a copy of the building permit application, signed by the plan check engineer, shall be required by the School District to verify the scope of work. Refer to the attached handout.Sheet A-1.1: Three walls at the front entry: Please coordinate with the structural framing plans to show wall framing details for the exterior wall of type III-B construction. A noncombustible material is required; and 2-hr fire-rated wall is required for exterior bearing wall.2nd Review Comment: New metal studs walls are proposed for the exterior fire-rated walls at the front entry recessed area – Metal studs cannot be used in structural fire-rated wall assembly. Please coordinate and revise plan accordingly. (See mark-ups on Sheet A-1.1)New walls for the elevator, machine room and front lobby area: Please clarify construction exterior wall type to show compliance with type III-B. 2nd Review Comment: Referenced elevator shop drawings were provided – Similar to comment #1 above, metal studs cannot be used in structural fire-rated wall. New wood stud walls adjacent to the existing concrete wall: Please provide details to provide fireblocking in accordance with Section 718.2. 2nd Review Comment: Detail 5/A-1.1 – Please revise detail to show separation between new wood studs wall and existing concrete wall (required by structural design). The air space should be filled with approved mineral wool. Clearly cross-referenced detail onto the plan. Structural wall with fire-rated assembly: Please provide construction details to show sequence of constructing a structural fire-rated wall assembly; especially, wall that build against the existing concrete wall. Sheet S102: Roof framingThree walls at the front entry: Per previous condition, the three walls at the front entry were open – Please clearly provide/show support of the existing roof framings, and provide new wall construction details. 2nd Review Comment: Please coordinate with architectural plans. Metal studs cannot be used as loads-bearing fire-rated wall. (See mark-ups on sheet A-1.1 and S100)Front entry wall where perimeter walls are offset (line E, F, 5) – Please develop a chord/strut. Provide calculation and detail for chord/strut. 2nd Review Comment: Please provide the following Please provide/show a continuous chord/strut at gridline 5, per structural design. Provide detail. Please provide detail to show construction detail at gridline E and F.3 to show required strap along those wall line. Please show/provide roofing framing and strengthening for roof top equipment. Provide calculation and details. Sheet S101: Floor FramingThree walls at the front entry: Please coordinate with the architectural plan to show wall framing details for the exterior wall of type III-B construction. A noncombustible material is required; and 2-hr fire-rated wall is required for exterior bearing wall. 2nd Review Comment: Please coordinate with architectural plans. 2nd Review Comment: New HSS frames at the front façade (detail 12 & 5/S203) – Please check HSS beam and columns for the vertical loads from the existing roof beam. Existing columns located at the new shear walls: Please provide detail to show separation between new shear wall and existing columns. New shear wall should not distribute any lateral loads into the existing columns. Please relocated shear walls as necessary. 2nd Review Comment: Response was incomplete. Please provide detail to show shear wall separation from the existing columns. Clearly cross-reference detail onto the plan. (See mark-up on sheet (S101)Detail 21/S201: Please revise plan and detail to separate the new shear wall from the existing horizontal HSS frames. 2nd Review Comment: Response was in sufficient. Please revise plan to avoid shear wall from the existing horizontal frames. Otherwise, check HSS member with shear, upward/downward forces, and provide details to show continuous load path from floor to foundation. (See mark-up on sheet S201)Where existing concrete wall to be opened: Please provide calculation and detail for the new opening in existing concrete wall. Sheet S100: Foundation Plan – Please revise plan to provide minimum 6” thick concrete slab with #3 rebar at 18” on center, each way for the concrete slab. (Per soil report). 2nd Review Comment: Please revise slab notes on the foundation plan, located between line 2 & 3. (See mark-ups on sheet S100)Detail 4 and 7 on sheet S201: Please show existing wall footing in relative to new footing. 2nd Review Comment: Detail 4 and 7 – Please revise detail to provide dowels between new footing and existing wall. Specify minimum embedment and spacing of dowels. (See mark-ups on sheet S201)New interior slab and footing: Please provide details to show how the existing footing and new foundation system will be tied together. Provide positive connection between existing wall footing and new footing/slab. 2nd Review Comment: In addition to detail 8/S201, detail 3, 6, 9 on sheet S201 – Please revise details to provide/show dowels between existing footing and new footing/slab. (See mark-ups on sheet S201)Please submit final foundation plan and details to the geotechnical engineer of record for review and approval. A “review” stamp on the plan or a “review” letter from the geotechnical engineer is required. 2nd Review Comment: Please comply.
