The applicant shall obtain clearances/approvals for the following, prior to building permit issuance: -Planning Division approval on the corrected/final set of drawings (647-5804). Previously approved plans should be submitted to expedite the process. - Fire Department approval on the corrected/final set of drawings (647-5839 or 647-5700). The aerial photo is not a valid site plan. Provide a fully dimensioned Site Plan on the drawings.Refer to the City’s website for the commercial site plan example. Cover sheet. Please revise the description of the scope of work. Clearly show in the scope of work that the type (A, B, C…), length, width and heightof the existing unpermitted storage rack to obtain permit and proposed new storage racks to be installed. Cover sheet. Add additional note to the scope that” this permit is for the storage rack installation only.” Cover sheet. The maximum stored level is ___ feet. Indicate the contents to be stored in the warehouse. Listing all storage material on the racks on plan and show comply with the S-1 occupancy (CBC Chapter 3). Provide complete rack elevations for all combinations shown on the sheet WH-1. Provide two elevations on each type of racks and on each type of combination (single, double deep,double deep with single back-to-back and double deep back-to-back). Label type of racks on the elevation. Show dimensions to identify the space between the horizontal braces, and height of each horizontal braces. Cross-reference elevations on sheet PRF-1 into floor plan on sheet WH-1. The height of rack columns A is 21.5 feet, B is 18 feet and C is 16 feet. Per sheet RFP-1, the maximum height of the storage level is limited to 14 feet maximum above floor surface on all type of racks. Demonstrate on plan how to prevent the storage height not to exceed 14 feet in height. Provide calculation of the following: Type A: double deep, double deep with single back-to-back and double deep back-to-back. Type B: single and double deep with single back-to-back. Type A and type C combine: double deep Type C: double deep with single back-to-back and double deep back-to-back. A page of design summary without calculation is not accepted.Provide all pages of calculation of each type rack. Structural calculation. Instead of labeling “other configuration”, revise table of contents to identify all types of configurations with page number as requested in plan check comment above. Sheet WH-1. Remove the “future” racks from plan, which are not part of this review and approval. Sheet SED. Provide storage rack elevations on plan. Design shall be consistent with structural calculation. Per calculation, identify typical 3” vertical distance between diagonal bracing and horizontal member on plan. Clearly indicate where the measuring points of the 3” are. Provide building cross-sections to show vertical clearance between floor surface and the bottom of the ceiling. Identify the available clearance between the top of the stored material and the ceiling sprinkler deflector. CBC Section 1705.12.7, Storage racks and access floors. Periodic special inspection is required during the anchorage of access floors and storage racks 8’ or greater in height in structures assigned to Seismic Design Category D, E or F. Note on the drawings locations and inscriptions of 50 square inch minimum size permanent plaques installed in conspicuous locations, showing the maximum permissible unit load in clear, legible print. Lower portions of posts exposed to damage by forklift trucks or other moving equipment shall have protective devices. END OF COMMENTS
