All items noted on this plan check report must be addressed. Please indicate the sheet number and detail to the right of each correction, or note the number on the plans where the correction is made. Resubmit marked original, calculations and this correction sheet. A separate sheet for response may be used. Please refer to red marks on the drawings for additional plan check comments. Revise drawings to show compliance. This review does not include mechanical, plumbing, fire sprinkler system, or electrical work. Separate plans, applications, fees, plan checks, and permits are required for mechanical, plumbing, fire sprinkler systems, and electrical work. Call 647-5800 for information. The applicant shall obtain clearances/approvals for the following prior to building permit issuance:
- Planning Division approval on the corrected/final set of drawings (647-5804). Previously approved plans
should be submitted to expedite the process.
- Fire Department approval on the corrected/final sets of drawings ((714) 573-6100).(Second) review remaining comments:Sheet A2-0. Two exits or exit access doorways from any space shall be provided where the design occupant load or the common path of travel distance exceeding the values listed in Table 1006.2.1. Recommend to remove (2) proposed type A racks to provide second exit. See red mark on plan.Building Division second review response: The applicant responded “the existing fence will be removed allowing for two exits”. Note that this part will be under separate permit. However, two means of egress must be available before installing the racks. Please:Option 1:Apply and submit the plans for removing/modifying existing fence/gates for separate building permit at the same time as the next re-check submission. Please attach a copy of the proposed floor/rack plan(s) from the separate fence permit to this plan check submittal. On that drawing, please label them as “for reference of means of egress under separate permit only” to prove two means of egress will be provided. On this permit application, add note on the cover sheet that modification of fence to create (2) means of egress is under separate permit. On this permit application, add “under separate permit” note on sheet A2.0 at the fence area and identify the length and location where the fence is removed or altered. It shall match the attached referenced plans.Note that this permit cannot be issued prior to the fence modification permit is issued or can be issued at the same time.Option 2:Modify current rack design to create two means of egress. (May be remove some racks)Lower portions of posts exposed to damage by forklift trucks or other moving equipment shall have protective devices. If not so protected, at the option of the building official, the rack structure may: (1) be designed to maintain its full design load capacity at allowable stresses with the exposed post capacity reduced by one-half or (2) be designed to maintain its full design load capacity at 50 percent increased allowable stresses with the exposed post assumed to have no carrying capacity.Building Division second review response: Please provide method of post protection detail and cross-reference this detail to the applicable location on the rack/floor plan.END OF COMMENTS
